  • Comments Thread For: Roger Gutierrez (Covid) Out, Chris Colbert Seeks New Foe Atop February 26 Showtime Tripleheader

Chris Colbert is left to adjust for a new opponent, though while keeping an old fight date. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Roger Gutierrez is no longer able to proceed with his scheduled WBA junior lightweight title defense versus Colbert due a Covid outbreak among his team. Venezuela's Gutierrez was one of several members in camp to test positive for the infectious disease, thus forcing him out of the main event of a February 26 Showtime tripleheader from The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

Shakur is fighting Valdez in a unification bout! He's not going to fight Colbert in a non-title fight!

Where did you get that info? That would be a nice fight, but Vargas is a 126lb. fighter, and this would be @ 130.

I know but I didnt think it was finalized. But Shakur wins that kind of easy in my opinion. Ive been wanting to see him fight Colbert for a while.

You think Arum would let Shakur fight Colbert? I doubt it! If Tank fought Loma, then maybe I would have a little more faith in Shakur vs. Colbert! Newark vs. Brooklyn! That would be FIRE!!!

I doubt it too. But my money is on Colbert. I just want that fight even if it cant be made. It's more fun than watching Valdez get sacrificed.. I love Valdez but hes got no chance. With Colbert you might see Shakur exposed.

I like both fights! I'm just glad Shakur is finally getting the fight that he's wanted for years! I think if Colbert gets a WBA title at 130, he'll more likely move to 135, to fight Tank!
