Comments Thread For: Thurman: I Do Like The Fight With Crawford; We'll See How Stubborn We Get With The Split

LAS VEGAS - Keith Thurman seemed somewhat interested late Saturday night in the possibility of fighting Terence Crawford next. Thurman was honest, though, in making it clear that he would prefer to fight the winner of the upcoming championship unification bout between rival Errol Spence Jr. and Yordenis Ugas.

Crawford should fight Vergil Ortiz Jr., if Ortiz beats McKinson! Vergil is a bigger draw, and a better fighter than Thurman is right now! Thurman already talking splits, and he's done nothing to demand anything more than 30%!!!

It is not likely that Thurman has any real intention of fighting Crawford, but he likes to keep his name in the paper and on social media.

Duckford should fight Keef and the winner can unify with Spence or Ugas. young lions Ennis and Ortiz jr are on their way to challenge any of them.

No way Crawford takes this fight. At least not for what Haymon would be willing to pay him.
At his age Crawford doesn’t have much time left to get the big legacy fights.
Thurman would be a good name for him. Ideally it would be Thurman/Crawford and Spence/Ugas to set up a big fight this fall but I don’t think Crawford is realistic on what he would accept to make it happen quickly.
The fact that it’s been a few months and he still doesn’t have a deal with a promoter or free agent deal even being rumored should let him know where he’s at.
Canelo had a deal done with DAZN within days of splitting with Golden Boy.

Make no mistake about it, Thurman doesn't want to go down as the best that ever did it. He doesn't want many tune up fights. Nor does he like eliminators. He only wants to fight for titles, money, and instant fame. He would definitely fight Crawford, Ugas, or Spence...or whoever has a title (or can bring him the most fame/$$$).

              BUT:

Thurman looked very small and frail at welterweight. He may want to target Crawford's belt over Spence's. He has a boxer's chance against Crawford. Spence will walk Thurman down and then stop him. Spence will destroy Thurman's frail body. Thurman showed that he still can't take a good body shot.

Well played Keith, but that trick doesn't work anymore! Saying you'll fight Crawford, but with a condition/way out.
I think Keith is cashing out like Spence, looking for the biggest payday possible then retire. He said he will only loose one time and unless he fights Ugas, it's a sure loss. He's gonna wait it out use the bruised knuckle story then fight someone without a belt or the smaller Taylor.

Thurman will probably get the fight. Crawford likes to fight all washed up guys while waiting on Spence.

I would prefer Thurman fighting Boots, Ortiz jr, or at least Butaev, Avanesyan first, but the sport is what it is.
