Buddy McGirt In the 90s he was as high as top 5 P4P.

You are Correct! P4p #5 Ring Magazine 1992. April 1993 Issue.

    And p4p #7 1991. May 1992 Issue.

He fought one of the perfect fights of the 90s vs long reigning champion Simon Brown. Brown was a top P4P fighter, the favorite and a long time defending champion and McGirt took him to school in one of the better performances of the 90s.

Simon Brown was never ranked p4p top 10 but he was ranked #1 ww when they fought.

And 1 judge only gave him 1 round lol.

Great analysis of Russell vs. Masagayo! Russell was brilliant, although he lost the fight! I would love to see Russell vs. Brandon Figueroa @ 126! Winner gets Masagayo!

It is unfair for people to DEMAND Canelo vs. Beterbiev or Bivol @ 175! 154 to Undisputed @ 168 is a historical achievement on it's own! Canelo vs. Charlo @ 168!!! Can't wait! My Twin Uncles turns 60 on May 7th! Couldn't ask for a better Birthday Party! MAN UP!

As a Brit, you hear a lot of stories from Americans about life in the States, and my reaction on reading about the 'DMV' style of boxing was 'damn, the queues really must be as long as they say if there's a distinct fighting style'

I love the dress ups, I like to find examples also. A fighter conditioning his opponents for certain reactions

It saddens me that we still get the 'Johnson ducked Langford' ****. This is a very simple point. In the United States in the years before WW1 there were very few black people with money to waste, & those that did have were of an aspirational middle class who wouldn't have wanted tickets for a fight anyway. Fight crowds were almost exclusively white & they wouldn't have paid a nickel to watch 2 black men fighting. When Jack did fight another black man in his later career, Jim Johnson, he went to Paris to do it because the French were more appreciative. The commercial necessity was to fight exclusively white challengers.

I remember McGirt, he could properly fight & was always called 'old school' because, in the 80s, he showed moves that came from the 40s & 50s. (This is before Mr google so you couldn't just search for the stuff online). As I recollect, his first managers were these 2 old ***ish tailors. Buddy always wore their suits & would give them a shout after each win 'I'm looking sharp, if you wanna look sharp go to Feinsteins on 6th Avenue'!
