    Double standard.
    Agreed.

But there's a little bit of a difference in Floyd's situation and Julio's.

Floyd spends a lot of his money on what most consider to be wasteful ****.

I'm not sure if Julio does the same or not but the key difference in the two is this ; Floyd is still young and healthy enough to be able to line up some fights to pay his **** off, Julio is far too old to even consider it.

Just who the f**k do these fighters hire as their CPA's. I mean, these days you don't really hear alot of NBA, NFL, MLB players getting into this kind of **** like we did in past decades.

I mean, it still happens, but, it's happening less and less. But w/ boxers, it's just crazy.

As a real life accountant I agree.

A lot of things could be done to avoid this and other unfortunate situations. For instance the promotor/manager could set up a retirement scheme for the boxer or perhaps the so-called governing bodies could take a percentage of every sanctioning fee they collect and pool the dough to hand out pensions to fighters who has participated in bouts sanctioned by that organization.

As for the story well it's sad. But how can the IRS try to collect taxes from over 10 years ago? Why haven't they made their claim long ago?

lol, thats what I always think when I hear these stories. I get that the fighter was ****** with their money...but what the hell are these taxes doing sneaking up on people 10 years later? why didnt they just demand the money in 1999 when they were supposed to?

its not an excuse for the fighter, but its unresponsible all the same.

well, I hope that Jr can help out his dad...I dont know what these guys are thinking. taxes sure can bite you in the butt, cant they?

it seems ironic that one of the best ways to keep your wealth is to give it away. that way you dont have to deal with these kind of situations with taxes...
well, at least it can save you in America, not sure if thats the case in other countries.

probably because JCC didn't create a marketing persona based on his finnancial worth unlike boxings self-proclaimed cash cow aka Money May aka whatever other pseudonym he's used relating to money

                haha that's true

I know that back in the day Chavez had tax troubles that popped up when the Mexican gov. was going after all of the former-President Salinas' close associates but I thought he cleared all that up by now.

edit: didnt see that it's in Arizona

This is very difficult for JCC, imagine the amount, its STAGGERING! It's unimaginable, unbelievable given the fact how much a boxer can earn every fight unless u r DLH or Tyson or Money May but it still to much.

I mean this could happen to anybody specially in boxing coz most of these fighters are not that educated and not really aware how taxation is being done in US. The least a boxer can do is for him to have a personal accountant, plus the fact that whatever declarations he may have is still subject for auditing. And this would cost the boxer for hiring an accountant.

That's why the chavez bros specially Jr is fighting everynow and then even if the guy is a bum. Daddy is in dire need of $$$!

Can the US govt. extradite chavez sr. from mexico to face the case?
