He, like others on a lower socio-economic scale, had Mayweather not been a star, would face huge resistance. When society in all types of sports welcomes in the non-stereotypical folks to all sports, then we have an ideal world. Tiger Woods must have faces serious repressive front lines in a sport that probably resisted guys like him. The day everyone is welcome to all sports is a day I would love to see - but doubt I ever will.Comment

But the key is he had the impetus that comes from an already established huge base of wealth and fame from Boxing that makes other ventures massively easier to get into. If Mayweather was just some guy from Grand Rapids with a decent amount of money, but not the extremely wealthy nor the huge sports star that he is; a less famous modest version of himself would have found those walls would have been thicker and taller and that impetus to take leaps and bounds would be non-existent.

Well sure, I see this exactly. I think my point is that the fact so few make it isn't proof of the system's brilliance for anyone other than for society's exploiting classes.
The day where no-one has to almost killed in a ring to get a comfortable lifestyle is a day I want to see. There are ppl working 80 hrs a week just to acquire the bare minimum.
But as far as the current "rules of the game" go, the fact this guy, a mf that can't even read it, has made it so far impresses me.Comment
