  • Comments Thread For: Arum Rooting For Usyk, Looks Forward To Negotiating Undisputed Title Bout 'In-House', Without Hearn

Bob Arum would love for nothing more than Oleksandr Usyk to beat Anthony Joshua again. The head of Top Rank Inc. said in a recent interview that he hopes to resume discussions about matching the winner of that heavyweight unification bout

"Usyk is managed by Egis Klimas, who, in addition to former undisputed lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko, a close friend of Usyk’s, has a slew of fighters signed with Arum’s Top Rank. Joshua is backed by rival promoter Eddie Hearn, whom Arum has consistently butted heads with over the years.

Usyk is technically signed to Hearn’s Matchroom, but it is not clear when their deal expires. Should the Ukrainian beat Joshua again, Arum seems to believe that Hearn would be out of the picture, paving way for negotiations for the undisputed fight to occur ‘in-house.’

I believe this illustrates why we won't probably see Lomachenko vs. Haney, and Fury vs. Joshua! Arum (and Warren) seem to have a lot of hatred for Eddie Hearn!

If Usyk is signed to matchroom what makes him think Hearn won’t be involved?

We did get Lomachencko vs Campbell and quite a few other Top Rank/Matchroom fights.
Bob does hate Eddie but they still do business. I think Eddie gets on well with the Top Rank number 2 forget the name??

Warren and Eddie do exchange low end fighters, Eddie seems to get on ok with the Warren sons just Frank. I think Frank should retire also like Barry Hearn did (he was awful to).

Maybe promoters should have a maximum age limit :-)

Hearn is the problem in the big fights. It is better Usyk wins again and more chance undisputed will happen. If AJ wins he ain't fighting Fury straight after he is all ready 2-2 in his last fights Eddie isn't going to let Fury fight for the belts if AJ wins them

Usyk and Fury has to happen if both guys win. Lewis was our last undisputed heavyweight in 98 and were too close to not see the undisputed fight no matter who holds the titles. I'd be severely disappointed if we dont get that fight this year.

                Without question…

I always say this: whichever way people wanna spin it there were 3 top HW’s with 3 different promoters. Two of those guys fought three times, the other hasn’t fought either therefore it’s clear who the problem is.

Last I heard, the Chisora fight was Usyk’s last with Matchroom

Crispy Bob the woman hating racist could open up a salt mine with the amount of resentment he has for Eddie Hearn. If I were Eddie I'd take it as a compliment cuz he must doing something right to have that old man so threatened to keep up some smear campaign.
