Comments Thread For: Thurman Feels Rejuvenated For Barrios, Credits Healthy Hand

Keith Thurman feels his extended layoff will only help him in the end, ring rust notwithstanding. That's because for the first time since 2019, says the former welterweight titleholder, he has a healthy left hand. Thurman will break out of the two-and-a-half year absence from the ring on Feb. 5 when he takes on Mario Barrios at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.

We know KT has fought great fights and has shown warrior heart. I definitely believe his injuries have held him back, now let's see if he can provide us excitement again being healthy.....

Keith Sumtime will undoubtably be injured in this fight. “I “had a shoulder injury that I was fighting thru… see you guys in 2024 when I need another payday”

I think Barrios is a great - and not by no means easy - get-back fight for Keith. It ain't PPV worthy, but it's a good challenge. Two fighters both coming off their first L and not wanting to have that become two straight L's is compelling. Plus, Mario is big, long, young, strong, and has power.

I make no apologies for being a big fan of Keith. But, his power has been missing since probably the first half of the Danny Garcia fight. I realize the bone spurs had a lot to do with that. And then all the other injuries. So, as MusoMeanderings alluded to above, at his age how many more fights does he realistically have in him before his body betrays him again, for good? I really hope the time off has allowed him to fully heal and go on another run.

In his defense, PAC was also “injured” when he fought Floyd and also had calf muscle issues when he fought Ugas. So, they are all the same

I have no issue with Thurman facing this level of opposition. I don't hold him to any standard but if he ever stepped up in comp again...it'll show n be obvious again. Stay at this level.. Boots or Ortiz can use him to Jumpstart their careers.
clearly more talented with more upside.
this guy stalled his own career lol. Hilarious

You are actually making my point even stronger. I agree that Mayweather makes no excuses. He never made excuses for his close fights to Castillo and Maidana, he gave them their deserved rematches and beat them up.
