Top Rank is a great company for fighters to sign with in the beginning of their career's, but a detriment further into their career's.
They have lost many fighters due to their failure in recognizing their fighters worth as they've progressed, and dealing with them accordingly.
Bob Arum has also made some disparaging comment's about certain fighters in his stable to the media, simply because they've spoken up for themselves.
As long as the fighter keeps their costs low, and don't audit their books, Arum is a great promoter! When fighters start checking the books, etc., then Arum tries to publicly destroy their character! He dd it with Cotto, Mikey, and Crawford!

Good post! Talent overrules character! Ali was a "draft dodger." Still filling arenas! Mike Tyson was convicted of ****! Still selling out arenas! Mayweather was a "woman beater!" Still made the most money of any fighter in history! Roberto Duran, JCC Sr., and Macho Camacho, were no angels! Hearn can't stop talking about Adrien Broner! We all know why! Shakur is still only 24 years old! Hopefully he gets it together!

Right, VADA wouldn't begin testing until the fight is signed so your comment is a possibility with Valdez.

Thanks! That said you can't place Ali with the rest of the other troubled fighters on your list, which I otherwise agree with.
Ali refused to be inducted into the Army, because of his moral, and religious beliefs.
Many other who didn't believe in that particular war, saw Ali as a godsend for speaking up against the Viet Nam War.
Many others questioned his moral, and religious conviction's, time proved them, and Ali right he was a giant among men.
Now in regards to all the others their moral or religious conviction's had nothing to do with their action, it was lack of moral's that did.
Even though I was a fan of their fighting abilities, that doesn't mean that I condone their action's, or respect them.
I was young once too, and I'm not proud of some of things I've done in the past, and if I hadn't like I said earlier karma would've caught up with me also.
I believe that character overcomes talent, if not from the jump, then ultimately from the sheer will of it's intestinal fortitude/will to win/virtuous spirit!

From what I understand your 100% correct, and I agree with you wholeheartedly on this post.
Thats why all three of them left his promotional service's, because old Bob should make money.
He has to remember who's doing the real fighting, taking those life altering blows, and who has
the shorter life span/career in this business.
Pay them what their truly worth, you've made enough money off of their blood, sweat, and tear's.
Lastly make the best, and most profitable fights for your fighters, if they're willing to take the physical
risk you should be willing to take the financial risk.
If your not then your not then your not all that much of a promoter, not getting Crawford the Spence
fight was de****able on your part.

Im I remember a lot of people, including myself I won’t lie, we’re not giving OV any chance vs Alacrán Berchelt… what happened? He turned in the performance of his career along with the highlight knockout of his career to date!!!! Talk about coming up clutch in the brightest of lights!!!! Now in this fight va Shakur I have the same feeling, I don’t give Oscar much of a chance to win… he will have to outdo his berchelt performance and then some to come out on top!!! Possible? Yes! But, we will only find out once that bell rings and they are the only 2/3 in the ring!

I think not making Pacquiao vs. Crawford was even worse!!! That was the jump Crawford needed for his career!

MY point with Ali was that more people (In America) paid to see him lose, than to see him win! Ali admitted that, however he also said, "as long as they're paying to see you, who cares!"
