    Yes. Pirog--very sadly--suffered a career-ending back injury prior to his fight with Golovkin and was replaced with Grzegorz Proksa; Martinez avoided Golovkin for years and any hope of that fight happening--at least, back then*--ended when Martinez lost to Cotto.

    Incidentally, Golovkin was once asked if there was anyone he had really wanted to fight but hadn't been able to, and he answered "Kelly Pavlik". That would have been very interesting...

    *Could Martinez fight Golovkin in 2022 or 2023? It seems far-fetched, but stranger things have happened...

              Martinez was always in good exciting fights. Cotto might have beaten him anyway but it would have been a different fight i f Martinez wasn't injured. For a guy whose main thing is reflex and movement , fighting with knees that don't work is impossible , especially against a great fighter like Cotto. Martinez should not have been in the ring that night.
