What age did Manny Pacquiao’s prime end?

Manny Pacquiao was 32yrs old when he got brutally knocked out by a 40 yr old Marquez.

Bud Crawford will be 35 this year.

Tyson Fury defeated a 36yr old past his prime Wilder.

Uysk is 35yr old this year. Fury must be licking his lips knocwing he’ll be undisputed for beating 2 35yr old past their prime guys.

Nonito Donaire was 37yrs old when prime Inoue fought him. Donaire will be 40yrs old this year. Inoue’s gotta be licking his lips at the thought of Ko’ing a 40yr old for a world title belt.

Canelo will turn 32 this year. The same age as Pacquiao when he got brutally knocked out like a lifeless corpse by a 40yr old Marquez.

physical prime is usually late 20s for fighters but they get more skilled into their early 30s.

like pac at 126 and 130 was still pretty raw and got much better defense and much more variety in his punches as he went up in weight and more time with roach.

So "prime" can really be 28-35 for some guys. other guys they are shot by 35. RJJ and DLH had shorter primes.

Heavyweights prime can last longer when average power at that weight gets you one punch KO power if it lands right. You get something like Povetkin-Whyte where the 40 year old everyone thought was a stay busy or tune up ends up sparking out the younger guy

Pacquiao's prime ended in two stages

His physical prime ended with the Margarito fight, he was 31yo

According to Pac himself, he spent 3 days in fetal position writhing in pain after the match, and claimed it was ¨the most pain I've ever felt¨ . The match scared Pac from ever fighting above 147 again

The physical decline after that match was clear as crystal, he was never that fast, sharp and never tiring again. The relentless beast that was Pac prime was never seen again after Margo

Then the final nail in prime Pac's coffin, was put by the KTFO6 against Marquez

If the Margo fight ended his physical prime, this match ended his mental prime.

He lost all of his ferocity after being KTFO, became a way more cautious boxer as the KO clearly damaged him psychologically, he'd brawl no more. Long gone was the ferocious, exciting Pacquiao of yesterday

Anything after Marquez is a past prime, shadow of himself Pacquiao

but... because Pac's an ATG, he still managed to get some really good wins after that.

That's what ATGs do, even past prime, they still can be a force to reckon with, with the little flashes of brilliance and the few gas in the tank they might retain

Pac was at his absolute best in 2009 and 2010 when he fought Hatton, Cotto, Clotty and Margarito. That was his highest peak.

Well his peak was 2005-09. He definitely wasn't a shell of himself but his best years were during that era. Which is the reason many wanted to see him and Floyd face off during that time only for them not to see each other in the ring until 6 years later. He was definitely a worthy opponent til he decided to hang his gloves up after the Ugas loss.

Pac was past prime 2010 so should have won fotd 2010-2020. He only lost to jm m by ko as he was robbed in last fight against bradley and was being overly aggressive and careless as a result, didn't want to win on points again wanting a ko. And certainly didn't want to be robbed again.

But just like if floyd fought in others backyards he might have felt the need to fight like pac did against jmm, for fear of being robbed but floyd denied letting us see him as a all rounder and different facets of his game
