  • Comments Thread For: DeGuardia: I'm Not Gonna Sit Around & Wait For Beterbiev; I Want Joe Smith Back In The Ring

If Artur Beterbiev truly wants to fight Joe Smith Jr. next, he had better act fast. That's the message Joe DeGuardia, Smith's co-promoter, delivered after Smith stopped Steve Geffrard early in the ninth round Saturday night at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona

Makes no sense that this fight can't happen, but maybe Beterbiev is waiting on Canelo? Call Zurdo Ramirez!

I completely agree with this as much as I'd like to see average Joe vs Beterbiev it would be stupid to sit and wait I think Joe would benefit more if he fought again in late March or early April and again in July or August. I dont see Beterbiev wanting to fight before August or September if we are that lucky. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush and activity will eventually pay off for average Joe IMO

That cut gonna take a while to heal properly. Badou Jack was out for almost a year after one of Browne's accidental headbutts.
I'd like to see Smith reschedule with Johnson in the meantime. I think that would be an entertaining fight for the fans.

I think Yvon Michel said Joe wants crazy money to fight Beterbiev. I don't blame him if that's the case. Milk that belt up

Joe Smith has said that he has signed a couple contracts in the past to fight Beterbiev. I believe, Marc Ramsey said that he is rusty from a long layoff and didn't except the fight. I remember a while back reading that Marc Ramsey, said Joe Smith, is a much better fighter than he is given credit. Ramsey should know that well, as he was the trainer of Eleider Alvarez during the Joe Smith fight. Ramsey may not like the risk vs reward, against Joe.

I just read recently that big bad Joe just out priced himself for this fight to happen

My thinking is Joe knows this won’t go his way

the blue collar working class man has priced himself out after previously signing a contract to fight Beterbiev ?? Not doubting you just doubting the article where you read it from.

If im not mistaken , the Bobfather also mentions something of the sort about Joe out pricing himself
Yvon Michel also mentioned the same thing last week , that Smith wanted to much money to get the fight confirmed
I really doubt Beterbiev is saying no to the easier fights of the two ( Bivol )

DeGuardia thinks there's more money in fighting Danny Jacobs than there is fighting Beterbiev or Bivol (and he's right), so that's the route he wants to go.

Joe will think about fighting one of the Russian champs after DeGuardia cashes in. It's business.
