Maybe I should have been more clear. Its not just who you beat but how you beat them. While their resume's are comparable there is quite a big difference in how they win their fights. Smith, and Plant have often looked quite average, while David steam rollers everyone of his opponents and stops them, so overall he is far more impressive, so that is also a way I judge them.
Smith got walked down and beat up by Ryder, and was given robbery win imo, either way he got exposed in that fight as a fighter who just curls up against the ropes vs anyone who walks him down. If you get beat up by Ryder you are not a great fighter.
Plant generally clearly wins by points, but even then at sometimes has shown to be vulnerable even vs the like of a 38 year old Truax who went the distance, when David would have stopped him within 6. Just nowhere as impressive work as when David gets in the ring.
BJS literally has done nothing at SM other than win a vacant WBO belt off a nobody, and he has no speed or power, just decent boxing skills, he is a not an impressive fighter. If you don't have an educated eye you won't understand what I am talking about though.
That guy it not a legit SM because he had not beaten everybody on the weightclass" narrative is total bull****, because by that own standard Canelo would've been an underdog when he first moved up to 168 to fight Rocky Fielding, also Canelo would be considered a bum moving up against Makabu. żIs that the case? No.
