To be honest, Edgar Berlanga has looked a bit stiff in his last couple of fights.
He definitely has to work on his boxing skill's, and fluid movement in the ring.
Boxing fan's wanted to see how he would react when faced with adversity.
Well he was dropped, and suffered a torn bicep muscle all in the same fight.
He showed true grit in getting up, fighting through the pain, and winning the fight.
His opponent's face looked like he had been beaten with a wooden club.
If not for the injury, I believe that Berlanga would've knocked him out.
He definitely has to refine his boxing skill's, in order to become a complete fighter.
He should knockout Steve Rolls, his opponent after that will be of the utmost importance.
How he looks in that his 20th fight, will let us know which way his career is headed.

I'll be glad to see Edgar Berlanga back in the ring as well, Steve Rolls will be a good test.
His fight after that will should be even a better test, and how he looks will tell us where really is in the ranking's.
He's got to get away from the muscle bound stiffness, and seriously work on foot movement, and rapid combination's.
Constantly swinging for the knockout, with that ponderous foot movement, will be his undoing.
He's a young enough fighter, who if he isn't arrogant can make the necessary changes to compete with the best his division has to offer.

Steven "So Cold" Nelson, should be Edgar Berlanga's, next fight after Steve Rolls.
That's a really interesting fight, lets see if it happens, and how it plays out.
If Berlanga can beat both Rolls, and Nelson, we have a serious contender.

He’s fought very very few rounds as a pro, he needs rounds. The last time out was exactly what he needed, and even fighting through the injury was good experience. Rolls is another guy who I suspect will give him rounds and push him a bit. Power punching prospects, even more than others, need to be challenged on the way up.

See him get 30 to 40 more rounds against top 20 to top 25 type guys, keep improving in the gym along the way and adjusting, and we’ll have a better idea.
That's a very accurate assessment about where Edgar Berlanga's career is currently.
In 18, fights he only has 18, rounds of experience, the other 16, rounds weren't completed.
He definitely has to get more rounds in to get the necessary experience, in order to deal with adversity.
It's called growing pain's, the school of hard knocks, you have to go through all the grades to graduate.

Yeah, not real happy with his development, but if they don't step up the competition, he won't improve, so I say throw him in with the wolves, and let's see what happens! Morrell Jr., and Zayas, definitely have better skills, but Berlanga has power, so I expect him to be a problem @ 168!

Let’s see if Steve “Bum” Rolls will take a dive faster against Berlanga.

Golovkin went life and death with Rolls before Rolls remembered he got paid to take a dive.

You said the magic name David Morrell, will the promoters make the fight between Edgar Berlanga, and David Morrell, or even David Benavidez in late 2022?
He's got to fight one of those two by his 2st, or 22nd, fight or fans will really start to lose any semblance of belief that he's a challenger for any title at 168, or 175.
Morrell Jr., and Zayas, definitely have better boxing skill's, if not better KO power, and I honestly don't think that they do have better KO power than Berlanga.
Nobody is saying that Berlanga shouldn't knockout his opponent's in the first round, at least I'm not, he should knock them out as soon as possible.
What I'm saying is that he needs to stop swing with the intention that every punch has to be a knockout blow, throw punches in fluid combination's.
His ring generalship, and foot movement also has to become more loose, he's to stiff right now, he needs more flexibility in his limbs.
The thing is I think he can incorporate these abilities into his game plan, that job falls into the hands of his trainer, who should have had him working on this already.
What's up with that? Berlanga is still young enough to make these changes in order to become a complete fighter, win a title, and retain it for years to come.

Exactly. The winner of Berlanga vs Nelson would produce a true title contender and serious threat.
