Canelo will very likely go down as the #1 Mexican boxer once he retires especially should he continue to win. With any boxer you can say they should have fought this guy instead so I don't really hold that against a fighter too heavily.

I think Duran respects Canelo's career because it parallels his own to a degree. People don't realize how small Canelo really is in height and reach compared to the people he has been facing these past few years. Similar to Duran always giving up the height and reach advantage in the later half of his career.
