  • Comments Thread For: Charles Martin Feels He Would Have Shocked Wilder: He Lacks in A lot of Areas

Charles Martin explains that he was involved in negotiations to fight Deontay Wilder in a battle of former world champions. Those negotiations were derailed when Wilder secured a legal victory at arbitration to force a trilogy fight with WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

I thought Martin beat Kownacki and rate him higher than most. Still think King Kong deserves to be the favorite, but Martin is hungrier and younger and should keep things pretty close, even if he ultimately gets caught.

Whoever loses should retire. King kong Boogeyman Ortiz should grind a mid stoppage. His age and heart issues can support a distant war.

He doesn't lack a right hand tho.

Wilder would put Charles in a stretcher.

I would actually love to see this fight, because Martin throws many punches.

Hard to hit? Joshua didn't seem to think so.

Wilder would certainly have had a shock with Martin, but mainly, I assume because he would previously have seen a round zero KO as being something of a mathematical impossibility

If this is an eliminator that's a disgrace. Martin had his chance at an eliminator against Hrgovic and declined. Then the whole of the top 15 were offered it, including Ortiz, and they decline. Ortiz is not entitled to an eliminator being no 10. Except the chance he had and refused. Martin still is as no 2. But it should be against no 3, unless no 3 declines. That's Hrgovic. He ain't declining nothing. I wonder how much Haymon paid for this to happen. I'm disappointed in the IBF. They're usually the best and most consistent.
