And again, the covid factor. Just off the top of my head, I think the only boxers to WIN their first fight after having covid are Beterbiev over Dienes and Herring over Oquendo and both of those fights are considered career worst showings among fans.
The "fan scores" on boxrec can give a hint, the three who scored the Johnson - Emurlaev fight had it 96-94 Emurlaev.. so smells a bit like home cooking.

I like Joe Smith - just about everyone does - but I think he may very well lose to Johnson. His title win against Vlasov was very debatable - it has a 62% controversy rating in the "Eye on the Ring" website. And Bivol beat him pretty easily.

everyone and their mother knows that Beterbiev-Bivol in Moscow is not a bigger fight (neither of them is russian) than Beterbiev-Smith Jr in MSG or Bivol-Zurdo somewhere in Mexas, the only way it'd bigger if its for all the marbles

Fury had covid and bested wilder. I think Johnson beats Smith

That said, he’s sharp at times and can really ****. He definitely shouldn’t be overlooked by Smith, especially seeing as I think Smith was lucky to get a decision in his last fight, I didn’t think he beat Vlasov.
Johnson has a punchers chance against Smith, at least for about 5 rounds, but I think Smith will stop him sometime after the halfway point.

Hopefully Smith will actually move forward with the unification against beterbiev that he said he wanted straight after winning the title.

I like this fight. In many ways Callum is the Brit Joe Smith, or visa versa.. Both guys are tough but humble, both can **** and have heart. I think we could be in for a real exciting barnburner here.
Styles make fights and Callum struggled with Emurlaev's constant movement. Emurlaev maybe largely unknown but he's a tough fighter and has good skills. He used his height & reach advantage well against Callum and made it a tough fight. I think having to go the 10 rounds will have been good for Johnson. It was an MD as one judge scored it a draw. I thought Callum clearly won it by a couple of rounds but could see the argument for a draw.
Joe Smiths decision against Vlasov was way more of a gift imo. I'm leaning towards Johnson to take this, but not by a lot. Really looking forward to the fight.

IDK Fury did alright no??? Lol if he even had it.

it would be a hell of a fight if Johnson was a few years younger. He’s nearly 37 and looked his age recently.

it still might be, Johnson should be really motivated knowing it’s his last roll of the dice.
