People need to stop asking for this ****** fights and let the boxers in the ring prove who is the best. This people work too hard to be disrespected because fans want to see just one fight.
how is it going to hurt boxing?

and why would it leave a sour taste in the fan's mouth?

why would the fight wont live to its expectation?

if you dont have facts to base ur statements here, then all these opinions you said, are simply just that.... just your opinion.

pac has a bigger audience and name, how would it be bigger? Pac-Floyd would be huge, almost as big as De la hoya-Floyd and Hatton-Floyd.

pac/floyd will do better numbers than floyd/cotto.... this is obvious. but floyd/cotto ain't that bad... its just not as big a fight since cotto got spanked by margo.

ill tell you how, pac got his "big name" from beating great fighters.
This is no doubt. Cotto is on the same path and when he beats pac his name will be more recognized.
Ill tell you this as well .
Im a fan of boxing and if pac won and a floyd fight was to go on, i would pay to watch. That said,i believe the pac fans would pay to see cotto vs floyd. I know boxing is not all nutthugging..some people like the sport.

I don't think pinoys will tune in for cotto/floyd.

beating pacquiao doesnt guarantee that you will be a bigger name ..alotta people beat de la hoya but they were never a bigger name than his right?
its that manny appeals more to the mainstream than cotto,
pacquiao has a very exciting style because hes intense all the time and look at all the celebs that all seem to like him..he just has more charisma than most boxers

You need to remember how Pacquiao has gotten to this point. If you have been a fan of boxing for a long time, then you would know that Pacquiao's fan base has only recently grown to the level it is today. He received this through hard work and beating name fighters.
Cotto is now on that same path that Pac was on. Its not hype because Pac is not exactly a big mouth or brash superstar.
Floyd has taken the same path, but he has the fact that he is an American and an African America coupled with his antics and brash behavior which attracts fans who hate and love him (both will pay to see him lose or win).
With that, I say, what is better for the sport is for boxers who want great popularity and to bring great popularity to the sport, Stay honorable, work , hard, and win. The popularity and big numbers will come.
What is killing our sport is fighters ducking bIg names and or threats, bad decisions and cheating with plaster or performance enhancing drugs.

oh and speeding up Roy Jones to look faster doesnt make him faster than Pac. RJ was faster but no more.
how pacquiao got to this point? u mean by beating ATG fighters who were past their prime by the time he beat them?

and dont give me that **** about stay honorable work hard win..EVERY BOXER works hard, everyman who steps in that ring to fight is honorable

It would be better for the sport if floyd and pacquiao win their respective bouts this year because then we will have a megafight which will be good for the sport...

Pacquiao seems to have a bigger audience than cotto... so a megafight with floyd will certainly help the sport

I just want whats best for the sport thats all... trust me i would rather see floyd and cotto fight if cotto wins than pacquiao and floyd.. but its what is better for the sport
As of right now pac vs floyd would do better but once cotto beats pac. cotto vs floyd will be a bigger fight

people are talking about how big pac vs floyd will be and act like cotto does not have a strong following himself. prior to their fights against oscar both pac and floyd ppv buys were in same league of buys cotto gets. now doubt a fight with oscar will change your career.

cotto presents more of a threat to floyd and after cotto beats pac that will be more obvious. cotto vs pac is a big fight and those who tune will be left wanting to see cotto fight floyd.

bottom line is, aside from the few fans that floyd has most people want to see him lose. they tune to see him lose and once cotto stops the hype that pac can compete with welters

everyone will want to tune in to see if cotto can deliever what they have been yearning for and that is a floyd loss.

A fight against cotto will be hard to avoid by floyd but i would not put it pass him.

You have a point but what you miss is, you making a statement that one fighter is "bigger" does not necessarily make it true. Its not a fact that Pac is a bigger name, maybe on the west coast. But again its debatable and I dont even want to get into it. Cotto doesnt have an exciting style? Cotto does not fight warrior like? not mainstream? Opinions.
I hear woman talking about Pac that never knew anything about him, when asked why they respond..."he beat De La Hoya" and some even say Hatton.
So beat names and your name grows.
If your worried a bout ppv numbers(and you know about them) then you know that it wont be a HUGE difference either way and it could still be the numbers are in Cotto's favor.
But i will not act like I know for sure like you do.

You must not have been watching boxing a long time, if you think ALL boxers work hard and are honorable.
I will not debate this, just type a few names and maybe you can make excuses for them.

                      Antonio Margarito
                      Luis Resto
                      Aaron Pryor(mixed water)Panama Lewis.
                      Joan Guzman(vs Nate Campbell)
