Unless you have the ring IQ of Floyd Mayweather you ain’t beating Canelo by sticking and moving. Seriously imagine what this version of Canelo does to Lara.
The only way to beat Canelo is to push him backwards. He’s far less effective and far less comfortable on the back foot. If you allow him on the front foot like Smith, Plant, Saunders etc did, well, look what happens…
If you force him on the back foot you will give him problems:
Canelo-GGG 1, a lot of people had GGG winning, Golovkin pushed him backwards and that’s why he had success.
Canelo-GGG 2, same story, but this time Canelo got on the front foot much more frequently and had more success than in the first fight.
Canelo-Jacobs, Canelo was in control early to mid but Jacobs won a good stretch of late rounds, how? By pushing Canelo backwards and out working him.
Now there’s only one current fighter from 168-175 who I can see forcing Canelo onto the back foot. That’s Artur Beterbiev. People who think this is easy work for Canelo DKSAB. This is a very tough fight for Alvarez.
Now I’m not saying he beats Canelo but he definitely gives him problems. After Canelo beats up Makabu this is the fight to make!
