Boxing Video: Malignaggi: "Cotto Will Beat Pacquiao"
Francisco Guzman speaks with former champion Paulie Malignaggi about his thoughts on the Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Pacquiao bout, thoughts on a rematch with Juan Diaz and more.

I dunno what it is about Paulie but I enjoy listenin to him speak about Boxing.
The same reason that he is one of my favourite fighters.
Even though he is confident and a bit arrogant, he is candid, and you feel that he is telling you the truth. In addition to that, he is very animated when he talks.
He has a New York accent, and he talks like a young guy, but not in that annoying ****** way (Yes, Zab, I'm looking in YOUR direction).
Paulie just reminds me of the guys that I went to school with, and hung out at Home and Marquee.
Paulie earn my respect for fighting Diaz straight up and smart! Magic man comments on Cotto about the fight were legit and facts about the opponents each has faced. The loss with Diaz made Paulie a better fighter and earned a lot of respect from boxing fans. Paulie will make Diaz look silly at 147 everything being neutral.
I love Paulie and have much respect to him, but I completely disagree with him saying Manny could be the best ever if he wins.
Here is the flaw in Paulie's analysis:
He has not had the exposure to other top quality fighters to really be able to gauge how badass (or not) Miguel is. Paulie is comparing to guys like N'Dou and Ngoudjo. If Paulie has sparred or fought the top 135ers or 140ers or even some really good 147ers, then he would have a deeper frame of reference.
I would trust Zab's opinion (if honest) because he has been with Clottey, Floyd, Cotto, Tszyu, Baldomir, Spinks, etc. That is a pretty deep pool of guys in different weight classes with different strengths, power, speed and skills.
Manny just isn't as small as everyone seems locked in to. For some reason, people can't get it out of their heads that the guy started at 106. But Pac was 16 years old. At 16, all of these guys were that size. At 16, Floyd won the national Golden Gloves at 106 lbs.
People MUST start looking at that phase of Manny's career as his "amateur bouts". Only, the PI doesn't have a deep amateur culture, so guys go pro mad young. Like Mexico.
Manny isn't tiny. At all. Pac was weighing 144 on fight night as far back as the Barrera fight. He is a fully -filled in JWW...and has been for a long time. He was just drying to make SFW. Roach admitted that they were having weight problems at SFW.
