How he was able to march on after that lighting quick short left hook that floored him i"ll never know,immense determination to do that.

After you get KO’ed like that, one of two things happen:

1. You keep getting KO’ed because you never adjust and actually regress.

2. You adjust your defense/style to become more aware and try to avoid mistakes from happening again.

An example of this is Daniel Jacobs getting KO’ed by Pirog. His chin was always seen as glass after that, especially after Sergio Mora dropped him of all people. This led Jacobs to be the underdog vs both Quillin and GGG. Everyone thought he would lose both fights by KO. Instead he destroyed Quillin and despite being dropped by GGG, he got up andnwas fine, and the fight was very close.

Then you have James Kirkland who became a highlight reel KO basically right after getting stopped by Ishida. He just never adjusted his defense, never fixed his mistakes. You can have a bad chin and just adjust your style. Minimize blows, increase awareness, stop fighting so silly, etc.
