Why did Roberto Duran do so poorly against Thomas Hearns

I was at the fight fight live when it happened. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Why did he do so poorly?

I doubt you were at the fight and how exactly did he do poorly? The fight only lasted two rounds. Hearns imposed his height and reach. Not to mention his power

Hearns blasted him outta there before Duran could find his groove

Duran couldn't get past the jab and reach. Hearns also came out blitzing. Dame near threw everything at Duran.

The real reason why Duran did so poorly against Hearn is due to possibly having the most horrendous weight cut in the history of boxing. Duran could never control himself between fights. He would live lavishly, drinking and eating whatever he wanted. His lifestyle managed to result in a 55 or 60 pound weight gain. The Hearn fight was made quickly, leaving Duran with about three months to cut weight, and at that time he weighed more than 200 pounds. Apparently, according to his wife, the weight cut was so horrendous that he would cry while he did roadwork. He spent a month running and sucking on lemons. By the time he made weight, he was so physically messed up that he neither had punch resistance or his legs. She was extremely sluggish and weak, and that's why he was KO'd so quickly by Hearns.

I feel like he rushed trying to get in on the inside, But going by his style it's probably only a matter of time like Fraizer vs Foreman

The usual partying and Mexican smorgasbord diet. He spent most of his time between fights making weight and never concentrating on his opponent as much as he should. He never got motivated for Hearns like he did for Hagler and Leonard. I didn't remember him saying anything bad about Hearns. If he prepared like he did for the first Leonard and Hagler fight it could have been a great fight.

I've heard about the weight gain. Didn't know it was that much.
