    The Welterweight Stories

    THE BEST
Cotto and Shane Mosley both have claim to being the best welterweights. Cotto for his consistent wins vs welterweights and Mosley for his WW wins and blowout of Margarito. However Cotto holds a very close victory over Mosley.

Mayweather, once considered the best WW based on linearity.

    THE FIGHTS
    Cotto vs Pacquaio
    Mayweather vs Marquez
    Mosley vs Clottey (maybe)

    THE STORY
The most important fights involve two WWs defending their WW status vs two former featherweight greats. The great thing is that ANY combination of win/loss fights make for something great:

Mayweather vs Cotto - two, young, prime, WWs who are destined to meet.
Mayweather vs Pacquaio - The biggest money fight in Boxing
Marquez vs Pacquaio III - Probably the best rivalry in boxing.
Marquez vs Cotto - Puerto Rico vs Mexico...need we say more?

    THE DARKHORSE(S)
I'll go ahead and throw Mosley in here as he's being forgotten.

    Mosley
    Berto
    Margarito

All men are most capable of beating any of the top guys above. Cotto can rake together big wins, and try to avenge his loss to Margarito. But what if in addition to possible wraps, Margarito is also a bad style matchup? What if Mosley's experience, grit, talent and speed can overcome Mayweather, Cotto rematch, etc? What if we're all underestimating Berto who could have learned a lot vs Collazo?

I may be babbling what we already know, but just pointing out how great it is to be a welterweight Boxing fan. Beyond top talent, there are so many stories involved.

In the end, a Cotto vs Mayweather bout interests me most. What interests you most? Who do you feel will reign supreme?

Yup,Mosley isn't getting any younger,so by the time he gets in their again,he may look his age!!
Cotto-floyd really is the most interesting,if Cotto beats Pacman, which he should!!Cotto has fought with fast fighters & done well!!floyd won't be backing him up,so theres no problem there!!It is a winnable fight for either & if Cotto dusts Pacman & floyd doesn't dominate Marquez, then I'm presuming that floyd wouldn't be favored by landslide meaning the biggest event in boxing rivaling DLH-floyd!!

Mosley is #1 and cotto is #2.

mosley lost a decision in MSG. not even the archangel Gabriel could win a decision over cotto in MSG.

berto can't beat cotto or mosley or margo.
margo can't beat mosley, but he can beat cotto again if cotto shows up with the same gameplan.

cotto can beat margo with a few adjustments, but if he fights the same gameplan he will be forced to quit on his knees again.

What if Mosley's experience, grit, talent and speed can overcome Mayweather, Cotto rematch, etc?
mosley can beat cotto (just not by decision in MSG). mosley can beat floyd but i don't think he will.
What if we're all underestimating Berto who could have learned a lot vs Collazo?
berto learned how to hold and clinch after punching. that's what his dumbass trainer taught him. that's all he learned.

        meh

cotto vs mosley and margo interest me more than cotto vs floyd. floyd imho outboxes cotto easy and might even stop cotto late.

        What interests you most?
        pbf vs mosley or pac

Who do you feel will reign supreme?
in the end pbf will come out on top (if he ever gets in the ring with them).
