If Bob Arum has opened his mouth about the UFC I think boxing is in trouble

They are scared, atleast that's how it seems to me. There is probably numbers and information that isn't made public which shows the increasing popularity of UFC and the serious decline of boxing. We'll see. Boxing fan 'til I die but seeing Bob Arum come out of his face set some alarms off in my head...Comment

I am a fan of both sports, in fact, I have been an MMA fan since around 1995 and a true Boxing fan since 2000. Before that I was a casual Boxing fan. I think both have a lot to offer. For example, a fan of both would probably choose MMA over Boxing on a certain night like when Nogueira fought Couture instead of a Friday Night Fights or Shobox type of card. On the other hand, a fight like Cotto vs. Pacquiao is a must see and I don't think there could be an MMA fight as big as that unless you had Fedor vs. Lesnar or Cro Cop vs. Lesnar and still that might not be enough.
What I think hurts Boxing in the long run is the lot of bad decisions in some fights. Those ever present highway robberies are not that usual in MMA. In fact, they are rare. If Boxing wants to keep its place they should avoid this so that fans, real or casual, don't get too disgusted and disappointed because of crooked judges.
My two centsComment

It's been an impressive run. Before that, boxing was in a big time lull. I think the competition (mma) and the working relationship between boxing's major players (Top Rank & GBP) has done real well for boxing. Now if we can just get some good shows on free television back on.Comment
