3 mandatories in a row (champion in recess is basically a mandatory, which pacman was) for ugas is simply not fair and he is 35 already to make it worse. by the time he defeats (if he can) stanionis and butaev, he'll be 37 (old), spence will move up and there would be no money fights for him. that's why he wants spence next.

meanwhile at heavyweight, wba owes a shot to: oquendo (court decision), charr (champion in recess), bryan (regular belt), dubois (former interim) and helenius (won an eliminator vs. kownacki). now that is a gigantic mess. to make matters worse, wba super champion is a unified champion and he can fight only one of those guys in 18 months. instead of sorting this out they punish ugas...

Honestly Ugas should just drop the belt and make a fight with Spence or Crawford next. He wont, but he should. I still remember when Ike Quartey dropped his WBA belt so he could fight Oscar Delahoya.

Ugas isn't my cup of tea.
To be blunt. I think he's boring.

Not too interested in watching him anytime soon.
I've watched his fights. But can barely remember his win over Pac and close loss to Porter.

PBC just used him to grab the belt from Pacquiao so Spence wouldn't get touched up IMO.
So now they'll figure out how to shuffle the title to one of their other PBC fighters who's more marketable.

WBA created their own mess with the amount of titles they had per weight class, but I really don't get this. Once Ugas fought and beat Pacquiao, there was a clear champion at WW. Ugas should not have had to participate in this tournament. They could have had a tournament to determine his mandatory down the line, but he shouldn't have immediately had to join this tournament after beating Pacquiao. That is the part that makes no sense to me. The multiple champions of the division was eliminated after the Ugas/Pacquiao fight.

If Ugas vacates his belt, will Spence or Crawford even want to fight him? But Spence/Crawford can fight each other in the meantime while Ugas is busy with the WBA tournament.

This is such b.s. , Ugas earned his title. If they want to reduce titles, have the other guys fight each other for mandatory status. Ugas is the only real WBA Champion.

WBA will find a crooked way to make nearly the same shakedown fees for endless eliminators

I read this post in the voice of a whiny 12 year old.

Bunch of bull. I can't believe Shaeffer supported Ugas's mandatory. It's like the system is working against at every opportunity he is about to achieve greatness.

He's not going to make any title fights without a belt.
