The 2007 PPV matchup between the two sold a then record 2.4 million PPVs. Floyd likes to include that total in his PPV count but ODL was the A side then. How much of those sales were generated by Floyd being there or was it mostly Oscar who was the money maker?
Who really sold the De La Hoya vs Mayweather card?

It was a fight that was talked about for a while so it had some hype and boxing was more mainstream then.
It was the first time HBO did a 24/7 series instead of just a one time special.
Floyd definitely stole the show in the build up. His family drama and his money persona was great TV and made the fight a huge success.
People may forget what a mainstream star Oscar was then. Golden Boy promotions became an instant big time promotion just off his name alone.Comment

It was DLH's highest PPV at the time too. It was the highest for both of them.
Floyd played the heel, people wanted to see him loose. DLH would generate PPV buys fighting a fedex driver but not 2 million like he did with floyd, so its both of them. Thats why it was a mega fight.Comment
