Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman says he’ll be ready and willing to challenge WBO welterweight champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford for his title by next summer.

Thurman was considered the #1 welterweight on the planet from 2016 to 2018, but injuries, inactivity, and weight issues have derailed his once-promising career. ‘One Time’ Thurman is still arguably the best talker in the welterweight division, but he doesn’t fight and hasn’t performed at a high level since his win over Shawn Porter in 2016.

The former WBA/WBC 147-lb champion Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs) is eager to emerge from his long three-year layoff to take on the undefeated Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs).

It’s unknown if the World Boxing Organization would be agreeable to sanction the Crawford-Thurman fight, considering that Thurman will have been out of the ring for approximately 36 months when he’s ready to take on Crawford next summer...

“I’m going to be getting back in the ring shortly. I’d be more than happy, more than willing, to step in the ring with Bud Crawford next summer,” said Keith Thurman to The Athletic.

“I’m willing to fight Crawford eight months from now, approximately. I would love to fight.”

I see NO appeal for Bud to fight Thurman. It makes literally no sense. Keith needs to get a few fights under his belt and make a comeback before he gets a shot. Boots and Vergil deserve one way more at this point.

I'm not going to sit here and say that Thurman is definitely washed up, but it's a reasonable assumption for people to make unless he can prove otherwise. Unless he can at least beat a couple of semi-relevant fighters, preferably in less than a year, then he's got no business at all challenging Spence or Crawford.

Yeah, if no Spence, I think Vergil Ortiz Jr. makes the most sense, because he's the WBO #1, he's been calling for Bud, and it should sell better than Porter!

Errol Spence Jr Back In Training
        November 23, 2021 l Leave a comment l by Jeepers Isaac

Errol Spence Jr. is back in training following his eye surgery and looking powerful as he prepares for his next fight in March against a still to be determined opponent.

The unbeaten IBF/WBC welterweight champion Spence Jr (27-0, 21 KOs) is taking a lot of heat from boxing fans for dashing out of the Mandalay Bay last Saturday night moments after Terence Crawford knocked out Shawn Porter.

Crawford said earlier on Tuesday that he’s not interested in fighting Josh Taylor in his next fight. He wants a unification fight with Errol Spence Jr. or Yordenis Ugas next...

Crawford Vs. Porter Does 190,000 PPV Buys

Early estimates on Terence’s fight with former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Porter last Saturday night are that it pulled in 190,000 PPV busy on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

It’s not surprising that Crawford-Porter’s fight didn’t pull in a lot of PPV buys because both guys looked bored during the build-up to fight.

If those numbers stick, you have to view this as a failure for Crawford because those numbers are too low for him to be considered in the same light as Spence Jr.

If Crawford can’t even break 200,000 buys against a popular fighter like Porter, he doesn’t deserve to share the same ring with Spence. In that case, it would be a good idea for Crawford to take Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman up on his offer to face him next summer.

Crawford needs Thurman for his ability to sell fights with his charisma and verbal skills. Thurman has a lot more appeal than Crawford, and he might make the difference.

You can argue that the Crawford vs. Porter fight didn’t bring in a lot of PPV buys because neither guy has much magnetism. Porter is always so serious, and he’s kind of nerdy in a way. Crawford seems to shrink when being interviewed and doesn’t relax and enjoy himself the way Thurman does.

Canelos run of opponents faced is considered legendary atm but it doesnt have a patch on frochs run which was only a few years ago and you want it confided to the history books. if we forget about lennox idiots will start thinking anthony joshua is better than he is. the legends love it or hate it will always be brought up and thats the way of boxing. in thurmans case particularly, he was hot at one point but yeah gervonta is right, like an earlier poster said, he cashed out against pacman and has been whack and inactive for years, he never really had a great prime it was short lived.
You make some good points, most notably ancient measuring sticks ; I laughed at your example of Lewis-Joshua, I decided to rant a bit, I still think that the 90's 80's, were overrated ; if the new generation need examples of greatness, they need to go way back, but that requires journalist and coaches to actually know a bit of history...so that's why they always refer to those 80's and 90's because they live that, its not because those days were anything special.

Carl Froch is meme, I like him but then again I dont.

Thurman wants a title shot, and a lucrative payday.

Fair play, can't blame him for not calling out Ennis and Ortiz Jr. Maybe he could do something against Ortiz, but he'd take a bad beating if he fought Ennis.

[QUOTE=1hourRun;n31191920]I like Gervonta's way of thinking, these old-heads need to talk about today's young talent and drop the 'Good Ol' Days' talk. Please STFU about Floyd Mayweather, Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Tyson, Lennox, and especially about never-was like Tua, Vargas, Froch, FOH with that, take that to the history section.[QUOTE

LOL. Someone on here recently going on, saying we need to stop talking **** about other peoples favourite boxers and now you here saying people have got to stop living in the past.

Probably all true, but I’ll be damned if this website survives that kind of purge.

What's up with Thurman and Prograis wanted to fight smaller guys. Prograis pretty much kills himself to make 140 but won't move up. Both calling out a smaller fighter but both won't move a fight a bigger guy. Yet u have all these casuals who hate on certain fighters for fighting a smaller fighter and call fighters they don't like duckers for not moving up to take a fight.
