The guy always brings it to the ring no matter the opposition. Porter is a good fighter and I see a lot of haters here

He's mediocre, a gatekeeper. He gets too much credit for coming forward. But ineffective aggression doesn't win fights.

Porters good at what he does but I thought he looked a touch slower than he’s looked in the past.

His only losses have been to elite fighters in their primes and none of them had an easy time beating him. That includes Crawford IMO, Porter took rounds off of him. I don't suppose it's entirely incorrect to call him a "gatekeeper," but most guys you'd call gatekeepers only watch the gate between prospect and contender level whereas Porter watched the gate between the championship level and the true elite at welterweight, although even then I'm not sure how accurate it is to call him a gatekeeper because he was so competitive in all of his fights. Regardless of what you think of his ability, his persistently high competition level sets him apart from most other fighters in this era. Even though Crawford and Spence both beat him Porter outshines them both in terms of willingness to fight the best, win or lose. I'm a big fan of Crawford and watching him fight, but it was hard to root against Porter. Him retiring is a loss to the sport.

Nobody considered Porter garbage 4 months ago when they said Bud was afraid of him, facts are he's a better win than anyone on Canelo Alvarez resume. So is Kelll Brook but everyone said he was washed, but they said Porter wasn't washed so that Bud had to fight him to prove himself. See unlike Canelo Alvarez who when he fights good fighters gets controversial decisions, Crawford won it in decisive fashion.
