And did the WBC really create a new division, Bridgerweight, just for Canelo? So that they could lower the CW limit, and have Canelo pick off a belt there by offering a current champ a big payday in exchange for draining himself 10 more pounds than usual?
If this fight really is at 190, it's a stain on Canelo's legacy, not a boon. It will be another big example of the weight tricks that he has used in his career. Instead he has the opportunity to parlay his recent success at 168, which came with no apparent weight tricks, and continue to at least fight guys on relatively even terms.
No one should be touting this fight as legit if it is really at 190.
