Comments Thread For: Teresa Tapia Continues Her Love Affair With Boxing

By Thomas Gerbasi - After her husband Johnny passed away in 2012, Teresa Tapia thought she was out of the boxing business. Until she was back in. And it just didn't feel right. "It was probably around 2019 and I remember being at a fight - actually it was Austin Trout who I was promoting at the time, and we were doing a reality show on The Impact Network and what nobody knew was that I would go to my room and I would just cry because it just felt so weird without Johnny."

When a professional athlete dies of heart failure in their forties, I can't help but wonder if PEDs had anything to do with it.

That's like saying if a professional athlete dies from cancer they must've had a bad diet. **** happens Tapia was addicted to drugs for many years if you watched his documentary you would understand why he died. He had overdosed numerous times in the past was honestly crazy he made it as far as he did. As far as him as a boxer he was a good fighter man he gets over looked but his waist movement was impressive along with his punch output and speed if it weren't for the drugs who knows what he could've become.

Teresa Tapia is an amazing women. I wish her nothing but the best.

She’s had a very trying life as a wife to Johnny Tapia. Johnny was an amazing guy with lots of love and had an amazing heart. But his demons and trauma as a young kid effected him his whole life. He put Teresa through the wringer. But like a great dedicated wife she always stood by there in his times of need.

              God Bless Teresa Tapia

I was a big fan of Tapia, and I know all about his life. Yet a lot of questions remain unanswered. .. If you're interested: https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/full...AHA.116.022535

I had the priviledge of meeting and having a photo taken with Johnny Tapia in one of Pac fights in Vegas, he was very accomodating and kind, I will never forget that experience..

I know PED's cause long term problems but I just don't think that was the case with Tapia, hardcore drug use also decreases your life expectancy and is a reason a lot of musicians die young as well.
