AJ has been punched in the head too many times and thinks Wakanda is a real place.

It's not good PR to fight for millions of dollars in a country where people on live less than a dollar a day

DAZN is global, fights are not limited to a particular region, and Streaming technologies for such countries are limited to the upper middle classes. It’s a global revenue.

I wonder if there is that much money for Canelo to fight in DR Congo. What would Canelo purse be for a fight vs Makabu?

I would say probably the same purse as his last fight with PBC, price matching at the minimum. Canelo’s stock has risen. Canelo is the Undisputed SMW Champion and his recent fights are back catalogued on DAZN. Also Canelo is considered a huge folllowing figure in sports social media. When Canelo signed with DAZN he had a following of 5 million. He now has 12 million. These metrics are all calculated by the bidders to stage Canelo. It’s the reason why Showtime Sports wanted to make the investment and were lucky to stage all belts on the line. DAZN couldn’t benefit from Plant because that hillbilly made a public pact that he wasn’t crossing over.

DAZN world revenues easily cover Canelo as well as DAZN just bidding what they want, no different than CBS Sports

People make $500 per year in the Congo. The gate will be $100k total.

This assessment is erroneous. This isn’t a local scrap invite for the poor…

Nobody cared about Saudi Arabia’s sales gates… the same goes sales gate investments in 3rd world countries like Rumble In The Jungle or Thrilla in Manila. Even PAC fights in Macau catered to the wealthy whom would pay for tickets. A Canelo vs Makabu event is for a specific crowd. Out of the DR Congo population there are wealthy whom would go aside from other world fans affording it.

Will Showtime Sports front the money for this fight on PPV? Haymon isn't involved. Looks like DAZN had squeezed this idea in for a staggering Pay we are yet to hear. Looks like Hearn might want to do Okolie vs Canelo?

I am skeptical that this fight happens next. I still think that Canelo vs Benavidez will happen next.

There are network rivals, powers, that understand the bidding landscape. DAZN knows PBC is giving high purses to satisfy their guys whom don’t have belts; Benavidez or Charlo at 168. I think even Sulaiman is having fun conspiring with Hearn… Sulaiman knows that PBC want to exercise to 168 mando. It’s the same situation GBP were in when Haymon wanted to go to purse bid situation for Canelo with Charlo.

If Canelo is given the right to hold who knows how many belts at 168, then Canelo can do something that will boost his profile since he’d be able to defend his titles afterwards..
