Greater Fighter Miguel Cotto or ggg

Miguel Cotto is an excellent measuring stick

a very good fighter who didn’t quite make it into the shallow end of great

his best win being a competitive decision over the great Mosley

other highlight includes taking 3 rounds off of top 25 ATG Mayweather

ggg will be remembered for his two fights against the great Alvarez. Some people think ggg won at least once

ggg didn’t suffer any bad losses unlike Cotto

but Cotto fought the better guys and actually took risks in his career

Boy this is a good question. I think head to head GGG beats Cotto both being in or near their peaks. I wont say it's a wide margin but a split decision win possibly. As far as careers go the greater one goes to Cotto.

Head to Head Glolovkin would obviously stop Cotto. Career wise it’s closer but Cotto was never as dominate as Golovkin so I give that to Golovkin as well.

        This for certain

Cotto will be talked about more for years to come

he had the more storied career

        Beating Mosley

Being robbed of his prime my maragacheato(e)

        getting destroyed by manny

        vengeance upon margacheato(e)

and then giving Floyd a tough one

I don't know. I feel a lot of you forget how dominant Cotto was against level C and maaaaaybe B opponents. He really wrecked them at 140lbs. Probably comparable or similar fashion as GGG did to the same level of competition.

As Cotto moved up in his weight, he was more of a volume beat you down type of fighter with less of the brutal power he displayed at 140lbs.

I wouldn't compare the two fighting each other since GGG was just too big for Cotto and would obviously win that but I think Cotto's quality of opposition was better and he had overall better "skills" in his arsenal than GGG.

I would take Cotto's career over GGG in a heartbeat.

cotto was the most overrated fighter i have ever seen in my life, pretty much every big fight apart from mosley he lost or put in a disappointing performance and there was always excuse after excuse made, usually that the trainer wasnt the right fit. he had more trainers than broners had court cases

                  This one is pretty easy!

-Cotto fought and became world champion in 4 divisions, moving up from 140lbs to 160lbs.

-GGG only fought on middleweight, he was never brave enough to go up in weight, not even for making a potential superfight vs Ward at 168lbs.

-Cotto fought champs like Maywesther, Pacquiao, Mosley, Canelo, Trout, Margarito, Martinez, Mayorga, Zab Judah, Paulie Malinaggi.

-GGG fought one great in Canelo, one A class boxer in Jacobs, and one B+ contender who never won a belt in Derevianchenko. They're the only 3 good opponents GGG has had in all his career.

GGG may be one of the ATGs in Middleweight Division, but as a boxer career wise, he's not comparable with Cotto.
