The only fight that makes sense is Benavidez. He’s the only top fighter at 168 because otherwise it’s a weak division. Nobody wants to see a canelo vs Anthony Dirrell type of fight. Canelo isn’t moving to 175 to fight bivol or beterbiev anytime soon so scrap that. And charlo and Andrade are middleweights who have never fought at 168.

I'd like to see Crawford or Spence challenge Canelo at 160. I know he's said his time is done at 160, but I think he'd make the concession. In this day and age it seems unreasonable, but it's really not. Kell Brook did it to fight Golovkin. So many great fighters have done it, why not. There should be way more pressure on these guys to do it, especially since they won't fight each other.

Dirrell a sentimental favorite? Who's sentimental favorite? The writer's? Dirrell has absolutely no shot, Canelo has never mentioned him, it's not happening, just stop that noise. It's going to be Benavides or Charlo, in recent interviews, Canelo has already brought them up multiple times, GGG might be a dark horse if he wins in December. One thing for sure, who ever it is, it's going to be at 168, Canelo has stated a bunch of times that he's not going lower than 168. Who ever gets the Cinco de Mayo clash, the other will get the September fight, of course if Canelo wins. I expect Charlo in May and Benavides in September, or vice versa.

I think PBC will try to entice Canelo with a Charlo offer next,which is a great fight . Eventhough he'd have to move up to 168, Mall is a big ass middleweight.I'd venture to say he'd probably still
be bigger than Canelo fight night. Eventhough his PPV bombed it's the only fight PBC can offer that can be promoted as champ vs champ that some casuals might be interested in enough to purchase. You have the Mexican vs Mexican angle with David but honestly,very few casuals know who the guy is.

Another aspect were overlooking is all of this rides on how well the Canelo vs Plant ppv did. PBC/Showtime can't afford to absorb $50mil in purse payouts without turning a profit. If they couldnt break even with Plant,very little chance they offer Canelo a 40mil guarantee again against any of those 2, it leaves the door open for other promoters to swoop in. Who? Idk,we"ll just have to see it play out...
