Apologies, when I wrote "make" I meant "fight" his way to mandatory.

A win over Thurman would get him there, otherwise he's gotta look who's ranked above him and get them.

I don't see a fight with Spence happening though. Spence might stay at 147 for a unification but I suspect that he's heading to 154 sooner than later.

Not sure if you've seen him fight at all yet, but that's the only reason I can imagine why you'd imply that he is any kind of a hype job. Sure, he hasn't faced the elite yet, but just watch what he's done so far and, more importantly, how he's done it. There is plenty of substance to see if you follow the sport and know the difference between a legitimate talent and, say, an Edgar Berlanga type guy.

"Though PBC and Showtime are partners, Haymon might not be willing to give Ennis fights with his higher-profile welterweights unless Ennis and his promoter, Cameron Dunkin, partner with PBC in some capacity."

There should be a law against this. Deserving fighters should get a title shot regardless of promoter/manager affiliation.

This a great post and it kills me when people say "bum" or "hype job" Ennis has a serious amount of talent and anybody with a boxing mind can say he more than passes an eye test. He is next level at certain things and I believe we have yet to see what he is really capable of. The kid has the goods he just needs his shot to prove it.

Abdukakarov had to wait for for Spence/Porter, then Spence got in the wreck.

After Spence got back, Danny Swift was next for the WBC.

Fairly sure that Abdukakarov is on the IBF side - and they mostly have not pushed the issue because of Spence/Manny potentially happening, then Spence/Ugas potentially happening, then Spence's eye injury.

IN other words, they're the only org that is trying to give Spence the benefit of the doubt for unification.

Like, if Crawford somehow beats Porter and Spence calls him out, IBF is not going to push mandatory if Spence wants that fight, I can almost guarantee you.

That's the challenge when you have multiple org belts. You have to balance all of them out. The WBA is the one still having a hard time with it. So if you want Boots Ennis to get a shot at someone, he should go that direction first - and I frankly wouldn't mind him against Ugas, I think Ugas exposes him even if he doesn't win, and I think Ortiz exposes him.

I don't see what everyone else sees in the guy besides a decently athletic, flashy fighter that gets hit clean down the pipe all night long.

Funny that Spence is holding a grudge against Thurman when it seems like he is about to do the same against Ennis.

Yeah Ennis is a hand full but don’t get carried away with knocking off guys you should have, I remember another Philly fighter who had champions worried also but when faced to fight he lost that’s right the Butterfly Terrance Crawley! It’s good to be special but let us the fans decide that, not you as the fighter.

This doesn't surprise me. We all know you couldn't spot boxing talent if it hit you like Spence's Ferrari hit the median.

That's not the point. Many here were saying Shakur doesn't deserve the fight just yet and he should fight Berchelt even though he's a two division champion. Those same people don't hold that same standard here and all the welterweight champions need to fight boots ASAP. It just seems odd.
