Roach Lines Up Some Tough Sparring For Pacquiao

Trainer Freddie Roach is ready to fly over to Baguio to start training Manny Pacquiao for the November 14 bout with WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. Roach, speaking with The Examiner, shot down rumors of Jose Luis Castillo being selected as a sparring partner for his fighter. Roach will make the trip on September 19. [details]

Castillo wouldn't have been a bad choice to be fair, I mean hes better than some of the sparring partners Pacquiao has had, might be good for some inside fighting cause Cotto is good with body shots.

Last fighter that Cotto did a good inside job with body shots on was the great Alfonso Gomez, and before him was on Judah. Cotto can't get inside against elite fighters like Mosley, instead Mosley got Cotto with some nice body shots. Against Margarito, Cotto payed for trying to get inside by eating Margarito's uppercuts. Against Clottey, well no one can get in to Clottey's ribs so I'll give him a pass for that one.

roach always respected cotto as a boxer and fighter, all he said was that he saw some slippage in cotto's technique which is true (probably because of the problems he has with his uncle). its just that cotto stans can't take any criticism on cotto and ***** their pants if there's even a hint of negativity towards cotto.

Manny has already beaten the hell out of Rodella and gone to war with Antillon, so no surprise there. I think Shawn Porter is a new look, and will give Pac some excellent work in the gym. Great choice before facing Cotto. Looking ahead, Manny could get some great sparring in with Rigondeaux to prepare for Mayweather. Nice stable that Roach keeps...

Could it be coincidence you saw a different fight than most or could we just assume your hating on Cotto as usual.
