Has the Alvarez popularity overtaken the 90s Julio Cesar Chavez?
Who does Mexico love more?

As a Mexican my answer is....... it depends. If by "popularity" you mean ratings-wise, then certainly a comparison can be made. If by "popularity" you mean love and admiration, then no. Canelo is a very polarizing figure in Mexico......on the other hand, Mexican-Americans are the ones who seem to be all onboard with Canelo.
And to answer the title of the thread, the answer is simple. JCC.Last edited by El Más Loco; 11-09-2021, 11:36 PM.Comment

I’ll give you Chave and Sanchez but trust me Canelo has long passed up MAB, Morales and JMM. Those guys were all great but nowhere near the star and acomplished fighter canelo is.Comment

You’re backwardS bro As loved as Chavez was he’s a known ****. Go watch some YouTube interviews of him he’s constantly giving attitude to them and even cursing them out. Lol

He has a lot of detractors mainly because of his perceived cherry picking, catch weights, rehydration clauses, and oddly enough many label him as "stuck up" lol. The clembuterol situation didn't help matters but it also didn't really make anything much worse as it is common knowledge across Mexico that many cattle ranchers shoot their cattle up with that stuff.
EDIT: Almost forgot, dropping the belt he got off of Cotto pissed a lot of people off.Last edited by El Más Loco; 11-10-2021, 02:19 AM.Comment
