Reigning Over a Glamour Division vs Moving Up In Weight

When did moving up in weight to prove your greatness become the thing.

it’s rare in modern boxing for a fighter to reign over a weight class for as long as possible

I believe it is natural to move up in weight as you get older, however the "weight hopping" is both unhealthy and ridicilous. If you haven't faced any competition in your current weight and haven't become undisputed or even unified champion, why move up?

Broner and Mickey Garcia were both 4 division champions. They are not even top 50 in this era.....Mickey just out the top 50 ranking in at 56 spot with Broner moving up 2 places to 88

weight hopping and weight hiding are 2 different things. for example tank davis is weight hiding. he will fight anywhere a bum is.

Addition of the extra weight classes

going from 147 to 154 isn’t as big of a deal as jumping from 147 to 160
