Comments Thread For: Caleb Plant: Canelo Has a Tall Order in Front of Him!

By Thomas Gerbasi - Caleb Plant never has to fight again after Saturday night. Win or lose against "Canelo" Alvarez, the Tennessee native can walk out of the MGM Grand Garden Arena with a check in the reported neighborhood of ten million dollars and never throw a punch for pay for the rest of his life. And at 29, there's a lot of life left for Plant.

I like Caleb “egg” plant. He can win this fight and I think he might. Canelo has become in love with his power and he seems to not mind losing rounds believing he’ll “figure his opponent” and just knock em out. If egg plant starts winning rounds from the start and canelo gets in a hole it might be harder than he thinks climbing out

I see it opposite. Canelo's closest fights were with his best opponents. We havent seen him overlook anyone, especially these bums at 168, hes always come in prepared and he dont blow up or get out of shape between fights.

hes also fought quite a few guys at this point with height and reach of caleb. hes gotten good at closing the distance and getting inside. These bigger lanky guys, using his power to the body to break them down is a good strategy to slow their mobility.

Someone said what caleb needs to do is move and jab to the body, that is a good strategy, to try to keep canelo at bay and from getting inside but i think canelo would over come that even if he does it.

Plant is a bum who beat nobody. Nobody can even name his top 3 wins, they are all uber drivers. He is not going to be the guy to outbox canelo over 12.

Calling him a bum is out of line he would beat everyone on canelos record. He’s much better than BJS, Liam smith, Daniel jacobs, Amir khan, Avni yildrim, callum smith, and the same golovkin he beat lost to dervychenko.poor dervy got robbed.I just think it’ll be closer than people think. Uztagagui is a good fighter and egg plant took him to school even dropped him a couple times he’s better than u think.

How is canelo with the tall order in front of him Caleb? Are you thinking you are Floyd Mayweather Jr all of a sudden?

Caleb is the one with a tall order in front of him and not the other way round. He is in for a rude awakening. I don't see Caleb plant doing much in this match apart from the beating he is going to get. He isn't as slick as BJS who is a southpaw. Caleb Plant won't give Canelo much issues to figure out plus Caleb's defense his so much overrated. He got hit so much against Truax in the face flush. Had Truax had a pop in his punch Plant would have gone to coma in that match. I see Canelo dishing a brutal knockout to Caleb Plant.

I don't see plant beating BJS and Callum Smith. Infact I don't see Plant beating a very game and mentally and physically ready Daniel Jacobs. Did you add Golovkin there? Pls even old Golovkin would injure Caleb Plant bad!

Caleb Plant is so much overrated. He is a cherry picker who dodged top dogs to get his belt thanks to PBC. He avoided Benavidez like a plague. Caleb Plant is only here a pay day.

Being 6'1" and Canelo being 5'8'' he sure does have a tall order.

you don’t know what your talking about because 1. Benevidez just got off drug suspension how can u dodge a fight with someone who”s suspended? Golovkins only top opponents his entire career was vs canelo and deryvchenko who both beat him. Golovkin was scared to take any chances his entire career and was content fighting cab drivers till canelo beat him up. Daniel jacobs is a not that good he got dropped by Sergio mora and gifted decisions vs deryvchenko and more recently gabe rosado he’s just not that good zee uzcatagui that plant dominated would easily beat jacobs. BJS career signature win was against David Lemieux. He was a decent fighter but also one that never took a risk in his career till canelo beat him up. Callum smith isn’t good at all would lose to uzi like cmon man. The egg will give the ginger a good fight better than any previous opponents and will definitely win some rounds

The toxic hate with this one is very strong. How the heck is Plant a cherrypicker? He won his belt and has defended it three times & he’s only 29 years old. Canelo is his career defining fight. I don’t think he beats Canelo but I’m rooting for him regardless.
How exactly is he a cherry picker? He could have avoided Canelo if he was.

no hes not. caleb has never proven he was any better than any of the other ABC trinket holders at 168. He is certainly less proven than daniel jacobs.

What are caleb's top 5 wins? lmao they are bum quality wins. Dude goes on and on about beating Jose Uzcategui like its some big deal who got his title from a shot Dirrell.

If Caleb would beat everyone on Canelo's record, why wasnt he already the unified champ at 168? why is canelo the one out there fighting all the trinket holders while Caleb defended against bums?
