Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe the world is dying to see Stevenson fight Valdez. I'm a Valdez fan first and foremost, to be clear. But I believe Stevenson is a stylistic nightmare for Valdez to try and decipher. I believe Stevenson clean sweeps the scorecards in a very one sided fight. I believe Stevenson HIMSELF is the only one creating steam for this fight. And he's doing a good job of it. But it's not as if everyone in the public is just clamoring for this match.
I also believe Valdez knows this, and although he won't "duck" any man on the planet, I do believe he will steer clear of Stevenson thru their careers. And it's not a bad career choice if he does. There's plenty of elites to fight. Hell, Valdez may vacate even. It's not about "fear" in this case. It's about other opportunities.
I also see Stevenson pushing for this fight as an easy belt to pickup. And that's the reason for the push. Valdez is no easy fight for anybody on earth, except for maybe Stevenson. And everything I've mentioned is so clear to all parties, that I see no other outcome

I've never been big on just a fight in a division, it is sets of fights that get me excited. I would like to see these fighters all mix it up: Stevenson, Valdez, Colbert, Gutierrez, and throw in Farmer, Foster, Jarvis, Bell, Roach Jr. And also Luis Lopez who beat Andy Vences and Gabrial Flores J. If someone could set up all these in a 6 fight card, I would pay for that! And then the winners in a final set of fights.Last edited by richardt; 10-24-2021, 08:26 PM.
