  • Is Stevenson Shakur boring to watch?

I rarely use that 'b' word.
Been seeing it mentioned when describing Stevenson.
Most fans usually blame the dance partner as well.
"Didn't try to cut the ring off" doe, for example.
Why was Nakathila not blamed also?

Not a fan of any particular boxer. Just curious.

Shakur has one gear, no punching power and doesn’t know how to close the show. All great fighters close the show.
    He’s boring and overrated.

I don't see Herring doing better than Gonzales.

I'd like to see Navarette in there next for Shakur,
      lighten up the crowd.

He can't be that boring if people keep watching his fights lol. What do you guys keep watching his fights for? To see him get ko'd or to get a ko?

Some of his fights are kinda boring, but he has a high skill, talent level so he's still worth watching.

When a guy is levels above his opponent, and every round is like a repeat of the one before, it's not that fun to watch. But he's still developing, and he might just be one of those guys who is exciting vs the best but not so much in showcase fights. Win or lose, guys like Valdez and Teo will bring more aggression and take more risks than Nakathila and make for a better fight.

Yes it’s boring. when he’s against an overmatched opponent, he should try to close the show. No that doesn’t mean be sloppy and give the opponent a chance to hurt him. If pressing an overmatched opponent gets him hurt then maybe there’s a weakness there.

Perfect example is this fight here between a guy from New Jersey and Long Island forced to fight in Atlanta because Madison Sqaure Garden rejected the fight because of how boring SS was.

He's never gonna be Arturo Gatti or some is but he's been matched poorly imo as well. He needs a guy who's going to put relentless pressure on him and force him to fight... For whatever reason he's been matched with guys who want to box but are levels below him in talent and get so frustrated by his control of distance and counter punching they pack it in and settle for boring wide defeats. While I think tonight's fight will be competitive, I also think it will be peck and paw type of affair.

Yes, sir. I want to like and support Shakur but he lacks two key ingredients: Urgency and killer instinct. I expect tonight's fight to be a borefest. I'd love to be wrong.
