but you can flip that question..what could have calzaghe done to gain respect in the usa......both had damn near mirror careers..20 title defenses in one weight class then moving up and winning the ring belt at 175..you cant discredit one then give the other credit

            dont sweat it man
this is coming from people who have Calz as an ATG.
In a way though, loads of Americans say "He needs to come fight in America... he hasn't fought outside his backyard, he has only fought bums", when a lot of there fighters have only fought in America and nowhere else but its okay.

I respect BHop, he has a great resume and is a great fighter.

I hated the way he chose to fight Calzaghe and that is probably why he catches flack on this side of teh pond.

Basicly the casual fans saw the guy not trying to win at any point past the first round, pull every dirty trick in the book, from gamesmanship to outright cheating and the American press and fans turn round and said he was robbed.

The more knowledgable fan know better and that in reality it was a close fight and for me the performance against pavlik showed me everything i need to know about the man.

                    pure class

I respect his career, and he is a great fighter obviously, not that great to watch though. But i don't like how his so called fans act or the way he can't accept it when he gets beaten.
The fans annoy me because all they ever go on about is how Calzaghe should have been 114-113 (the only score they ever give) to Hopkins and how Hopkins would KO him in his prime. Why don't they ever talk about something else in his career?
And he can't accept any of his losses except for the one Roy Jones gave him, which is quite unbelievable as they were fairly decisive.
