Why? Because it was agreed by BOTH parties to do a 3rd fight after the rematch regardless of who won the fight.

If it was not in the contract, then it would not have happened period.

Lomachenko was the A side and could have put a rematch clause in the contract but he chose not to....In fact, he let his pride get in the way when Teofimo Sr mocked him for wanting a rematch clause. That was poor management from Lomachenko's side.

The fight was NOT great last October. But these are still two quality fighters so I would not mind the rematch. But if this was another name other than Lomachenko, than hardly anyone would be calling for a rematch.

Fury-Wilder 3 defeats that logic alone. Lopez-Loma was pretty competitive too. 8-4 to 7-5 Lopez is generally how most people saw it.

I feel like a lot of you are simply scared Loma regains his titles. I actually think Lopez wins again, either way surely you’d rather see this than Lopez-Kambosos and Loma-Commey.
Why would people be scared if Lomachenko regains the titles? Lopez is going to vacate the belts soon enough anyways, so that will be a moot point. I think it is the opposite. Lomachenko fans just could not accept the loss so they badly want a rematch even though the fight was not all that great.

I rather see Lomachenko and Lopez fight the other top names at LW...Lomachenko vs Tank or Lomachenko vs Haney or Lopez vs Tank etc would excite me more at the moment...If the fight was actually entertaining and memorable? I would love to see them rematch...but it was not that. So I'm fine if we never see it again.

You didn't have to. I'd personally skip Lopez-Loma 2 if it ever happens. These trinkets will also be splintered all over soon enough. Loma can try to collect them one by one.

I think there’s a couple of guys on here who just don’t like Loma so don’t wanna see him have a chance to avenge his loss.

The reality is, those fights aren’t happening anytime soon though. Teo and Loma are with the same promoter and fight on the same network, it’s easily the most logical fight fo make. I think a second win over Loma does more for Lopez than a win over a largely unproven kid like Garcia or Haney anyway. Would love to see Lopez vs Tank but it’s a f***ing pipe dream in all honesty.

The critics don't care about that.

No rematch. Loma needs to work his way up again, even try 140, do anything.

Not a Lopez fan here either.
I think the second fight would be really exciting. I could see it playing out similar to the 12th round. Loma has to go for it, or he’ll lose again, maybe that results in him getting to Lopez or maybe he gets tagged and Lopez knocks him out this time. The rematch really intrigues me, the only fight that interests me more at 135 is Lopez vs Tank.

These guys are still the #1 and #2 in the division as well, Loma doesn’t have to work his way up whatsoever.

Just looking at the political landscape of the division, it’s easily the best option for both fighters. The people who don’t wanna see this have their agendas IMO.

Yeah, that's why ultimately I am fine with the rematch. It IS the easiest fight to make...But if you ask me if I rather see Lopez vs Taylor or Lopez vs Lomachenko II? It is a no-brainier decision for me!

Lomachenko vs Haney actually really intrigues me. I would love to see Haney put in a position where his heart is tested and he is getting touched up some to see how he reacts. Lomachenko won't have the one shot power to hurt him but he can with his accumulation. But Haney is also tall, rangy and hard to hit. Good fight.

Now do you want me to list all the people that had Lopez winning?

Even the best Lomachenko could come up with was..."I thought it was a draw."

Round 12 was not a swing round, that was a clear round for Lopez.

And round 2? Yeah, you were looking to give rounds to Lomachenko. The man threw like 10 punches a round in the first 7 rounds.

NO ONE had Lomachenko winning while plenty had Lopez winning 8-4 or even 9-3.

                Get over it.
First, listing a bunch of people off of a forum doesn't mean anything to me or anyone else. It just doesn't.

Second, let me put it to you this way: If they fight each other next year, say at the end of winter or in spring sometime, who do you have winning the rematch?

Because he isn’t the a side line that.

Loma fights in the Hulu theatre in msg. 5000 fans . That isn’t Cotto fighting in msg main arena. 18 k fans.

this was a case where the fight was bigger than either fighter.

If he was a big a side, I don’t think espn would threaten to lower the purse if no Teo.

I had Lopez beating Lomachenko damn near two years before he did it? Why would pick Lomachenko now for the rematch?

I've got a bet going with Gypshot. You can get in on the too. But it's got to be smaller than $500. I'd make a $100 bet with you that Loma dominates Lopez in the rematch if they fight next year. ******* in escrow. Are you in?

Actually, depending on what the odds are in Vegas, we can do more. If Loma is the underdog in Vegas, I'd rather make a bet there and keep it at $100.
