Gatti was guilty of this offense several times in his career.

He almost killed Gamache when they fought.

Gatti was 24 pounds over the limit.

    Yes. That is disgraceful.

KT would be walking around at 170 right now, it just appears that he carries it a bit better than Hatton. I heard one of the other celebrity Grand Prix drivers on the radio the other day & they said that Kostya told them he starts training today (Monday 7th) and has to lose 15KG's. This is not the first I have heard of KT's weight getting that high between fights.
The difference is, Hatton looks out of shape rather than heavy if you know what I mean. KT is obviously keeping fit. Hatton doesn't look like he's doing the same & that is his worry.

But at the end of the day, you fight in the shape that you are in the day of the fight, the judges don't give you points for how good you looked three months before.

        Anorak-

Fighters fight at a higher weight than what they weigh in at. In the fight on Saturday both Diaz and Castillo unoffically weighted in at about 15 pounds over the limit. That is just the way it goes. If you don't like it, don't watch boxing, or any other sport that has weight limits.

Ok, I am sorry I said that, you put such great fights on the downloads board that I would be sad if you stopped watching.

I think Anorak was talking about a huge difference between opponents in the final weigh in. Not necessarily the fact they gain weight after the weigh in.

I still dont understand the Hatton weight issue, Hatton does the same thing every time and on fight night there isnt anyone i can think of who could keep tempo with him. Carrying a bit of fat isnt too bad, its a good source of energy for an intense training camp.

You were reading my mind Rick. KT looks like he's been training somewhat & trying to keep his weight down. Hatton on the other hand looks like he lives at a Guiness stout factory. If KT was really out of shape, you'd see the weight in his face. This is the biggest fight of Hatton's career & yet he's still looking sloppy. I don't care how he trains from now on, in a fight of this magnitude any boxer should be in the shape of their life. A fighter needs to be prepared mentally & physically for a huge fight. Hatton needs to take a lesson from JMM in his prepartion for a rematch with Pac. That guy started training early because he knew how big the fight would be.

Its an issue cuz this is the biggest fight of Hattons career and his one chance to finally prove he belongs with the elite. I don't think there is anything wrong carrying a little fat, I mean people are right the fight IS 14 weeks away. But take into account the time that Hatton needs to get into shape, he could have invested that valuable training time to work on something special instead of losing fat.

hatton has already proved that he belongs whith the elite
no one is saying that he is the top top of the elite but he is elite
without a shadow of a doubt to fight the way he does and to have knocked out the ppl he has it shows he is elite.
if someone had battered everyone who is near the elite and once was the elite then obviously they are elite, they may be at the bottom of the elite stock but they are definatly there.
