I think what won Smith that fight, is basically his conditioning at 154 and how he makes that weight.

I think Fowler would be stronger at more comfortable at 160 pounds, he also has the dimensions for that division. I think he should seriously considered 160 pounds.

I don't think technically that Smith is levels apart from Fowler, he is just real solid and well conditioned at the weight.
Thing with Smith is he’s really aware of what he is good at. He could be called one-dimensional but in a really effective way. He is really clever on the inside, deceptively so. I think we know he’s not a truly top-level fighter but he is definitely too good for the domestic level guys here.

His conditioning definitely helps but he knows how to use his style in a very clever way and pick his spots to keep a very good work rate without wasting too much energy.

          Enjoyed that, a good card.

Fowler started well but Smith's pressure was always going to tell. Smith is still operating at a high level and that was a big step up for Fowler. Hope to see him bounce back as i do think he's a decent fighter.

154 pounds, is the optimal division for Liam Smith 'It is his division'.

Most other fighters are really middleweights avoiding 160, or maybe big 147 fighters who cannot be bothered with that weight.

Smith won that fight tonight, because he was stronger at the weight 'I don't think technically is that much better than Fowler'.

Fowler is a bit like Bellew at 175 pounds, strong for awhile in the fight but then he fatigues. I don't think Smith hits harder than Fitzgerald, and Fowler held up better in that fight. Nobody would of thought Bellew would of been such a good cruiser-weight, but he was because he was no longer draining himself.

            Hearn likes Liverpool fighters.

So I was wrong. Picking the underdog is risky business. The road warrior won.
