Canelo's small but fundamental improvement after the GGG2 fight

I saw Canelo coming up short with his punches against Mayweather, Lara and GGG and it was always attributed to his slow feet. Looking at his recent fights where he is fighting bigger and rangier fighters while on the front foot and having great success with it one has to wonder what changed. Did his feet get quicker? How is he reaching guys like Kovalev, Callum Smith, Jacobs and Billie Joe Saunders? He has improved his punching power, his high guard defense and waist movement but I think it would've been all for naught had he kept that wide stance that he used to fight from. The last fight I remember seeing Canelo in a very wide stance (feet wide apart) was against GGG in their second fight. Since then his feet are closer together and he is not reaching and missing as much. What are your thoughts on this?

Most elites in various sports like Jordan, Brady, Mayweather looked better in their post career because they became masters with experience. Even PAC’s style was consistent throughout and got better countering.

the easiest explanation is that Canelo feels way more comfortable with his stamina since he’s not draining anymore like his young days. He can do more than what he couldn’t before. Canelo’s the type of boxer that will COMMITT to taking shots because he can, but, he can also deflect them so he’s in a safe state of mind to counter at all times. Most boxers don’t train from ELITE come forward fighters so Canelo exploits that. That’s why GGag could hunt guys down because he knew he could break them down mentally. Jordan was doing way more impressive stuff in his post career than proto. Jordan had a sick method to do a fade away jumper ALL THE TIME. That is completely “ballsy.” it is the same thing where Canelo is feeling the grove to come forward confidently. It’s all experience. Jordan wouldn’t have been doing those types of shots in his proto years
