    Vitali's style....how did it work?

he still has the weirdest style I ever seen in boxing....leaves his hands low.. he was very good at avoiding shots.... Lennox Lewis and Joe Rogan were talking about this on his podcast a while back. Lennox said he has that kickboxing style....

He was a kick boxer actually Vitali, and was a world champion in kick boxing multiple times.

He had a very awkward, and in part, unpredictable style. Not really one-punch KO power (like his brother), but more of a powerful accumulation puncher who used the reach advantage he had over most opponents well. Decent stamina in his prime, long reach, iron chin. More relentless than his brother.

I always liked him better than Wlad.

He got away with just leaning back with his chin in the air because of his height and reach.

6'7 tall and long. Naturally heavy hands allowing him to arm punch.

A style that only works at HW with his dimensions

He was 6”7 and had great balance able to throw at different angles without much off balance movements. If you watch Hrgovic he does a lot of what Vitali did ,I’d go far as to say he puts punches together better then Vitali but not as good a jab . When you throw arm punches like Vitali you are less committed to get closer to the opponent ,this made it very difficult to get at him .

Vitali used his advantages well and stayed in better shape than his opponents.

I'm not sure what you mean by the weirdest style you've ever seen in boxing. Personally, I think Naseem Amed, RJJ, Augustus and Jorge Paez (w/ honorable mention Deiner Barrio)

Paez was interesting because he'd square up on an opponent and throw six left hooks in a row, like a machine gun

                Here:

But with Vitali, that style is typical Soviet boxing. And Soviet boxing is the predecessor to Cuban boxing. So you will see similarities between Cuban boxers such as Erislandy Lara. Notice the wide stance so you can stay way from shots but come back and quickly counter. Hands are low, usually, to conserve on energy. Reliance of footwork and position are the main ways of defending.

I don't see anything strange at all about how he's fighting. And he's not fighting like a kick boxer would. Kick boxers have to fight completely differently, especially if clinching is allowed.

omg vitali is so tall dark and handsome but he told me we had to keep our relationship secret because of his political aspirations. In boxing he was one of a kind style wise and could of beaten any fighter to ever live.

Come ooooooon! You're not Sally Field! I know because Sally Field would never had said "could of beaten." She would have said "could have beaten." I'm on to you now!!
