Comments Thread For: Chris Eubank Jr: We Need To Fight This Month, Then Big Name or World Title in December

Middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr, 32-year-old, is still in shock that his scheduled return on Saturday night was canceled at the last minute. Eubank was originally set to face Sven Elbir, but he was pulled from the fight after testing positive for COVID-19.

I wouldn't be surprised if a deal has been reached to have Eubank Jr. To fight Sergio Martinez in December. It makes sense to what both Eubank Jr. and Martinez have talked about a big fight in December. I feel since Eubank Jr. Is ranked number 1 by the WBA and Martinez is ranked number 3 this is what's next for Eubank Jr after he gets through the next fight he wants as a tune up before Martinez. Dare I say I feel the 46 year old Martinez beats Eubank Jr. and becomes the number 1 contender for the WBA middleweight title.

And it works out for both because the winner of Eubank Jr. vs Martinez fights the winner of the GGG vs Murata unification which is rumored to be on the horizons of being made. And to be honest if Martinez beats Eubank Jr. (Which I believe he can) and beats GGG or Murata, it'll be one of the best comeback stories in recent times.

No way the BBBC sanction a 48 yr old against Eubank , if they do then their past non sanctioning of former pro licences to other 40 yr olds will leave them open to all sorts of litigation for not being consistent in their dealings and will they open themselves up to medically passing Martinez to box in the Uk. I know saureland have used the Austrian federation in the past but it’s a potentially messy beauracrarical situation especially if sky want to be involved .

I understand what you mean about the BBBC but think about it like this Martinez hasnt looked terrible in his last 3 fights during his comeback. I feel he's very willing and capable of beating Eubank Jr. If you think about it when George Foreman came back at 40 plus and he still was being competitive with the young guns in the heavyweight division. The you have Bernard Hopkins as well beating Jean Pascal at 47 I believe. I hear you completely on your point and I feel it's a valid one, but I really do feel Martinez even at 46 could school Eubank Jr. and evidence has shown Eubank Jr. doesn't do well with pure technical boxers.
