Baer vs Carnera, Dempsey v Willard, Ali v Liston II, Patterson v Johanson II, Tyson v Berbick, Louis v Schmeleng II, and on and on. Tyson appears to be attempting to cater to both casual fans who hate wilder and sycophantic journalists who themselves seem to know less than nothing about boxing history
So straight off the bat, you've only listed a single example of an undefeated world HW champ being beaten (Johansson). And in that fight, the first four rounds were close and competitive (Johansson buzzed Patterson in the second round to the extent that Patterson was backing up and circling around to try and recover). Fifth round, Patterson knocks him clean out. Is that really a more one-sided beatdown than Fury's battering of Wilder from pillar to post? Maybe, maybe not.
Spinks is a fair example, because he offered nothing.
But in terms of a drawn-out humiliation of an undefeated HW champ, Wilder being ragdolled around the ring until his corner were too scared to let it continue is a prime contender.Last edited by Monty Fisto; 10-02-2021, 10:45 AM.Comment

I’ll narrow it down then of the examples I gave….Johansson was undefeated and absolutely assaulted Patterson in the first fight. The rematch ended in the most frightening beating and end result ko I have seen in all of my life of watching boxingComment

It was brutal but was it more so than what Liston did to Patterson, twice?Comment

The only one I can recollect is Tyson/Spinks.Comment

Once again... We are talking about the most one-sided beatdowns of an undefeated HW champion. Patterson had previously lost to Joey Maxim and Ingemar Johansson, so cannot qualify as an example of a one-sided beatdown of an undefeated HW champion.Comment

We agree it was a horrible and devastating KO. We'll have to disagree about the whole fight being an example of a one-sided beatdown.Comment

Originally posted by champion4everNo, Tyson Fury is the only one unstable here. He's a goddamned liar. He thinks that no one can smell his bullshit but him. He is both delusional and dodgy as fuck and everyone knows it and can see it.
It's only a matter of days now that Deontay Wilder will expose this chump for the kind of fraud and cheat that he really is. He's an over hyped and overrated bum who cannot win unless it's through shady and dishonest means.Comment
