Came across this explantion when looking for the answer to this question about why boxing is in a big mess.

I still think promoters are the big problem because paying off or strongarm the sanctioners, referees and judges to favour their fighters. Even this week we seen very su****ious judging. Also they protect fighters from strong challengers to keep the gravy train and profits rolling in. So best not fighting the best and unifications not happening enough. But maybe I'm wrong. Is it sanctioning bodies are the biggest villains?

I've been saying for a long time, the true threat to boxing, the primary force in corruption is the Mexican Cartel. Where do almost all the fights take place? Where is the hub for boxing? Las Vegas. Everything runs through or flows through Las Vegas. Some how. Some way. And Law Vegas is a hub the the drug cartels. It's the primary location for distribution. They also now have their hands in the casinos.

Why is it that when Floyd fought Canelo and school him that a judge gave a ton of rounds to Canelo? Why did Canelo lose to GGG but was given the win? The Cartel. That's why. Of course there are other reasons, like in England there's that bias. In other areas there's bias for one reason or another, but the major corruption is still the mafia and the drug cartels.

Here's a good article: Drug world high-rollers, high-flyers find their way to Las Vegas

I guess wherever there is big cash flows the big criminlas will want to be involve.

I am su****ious that maybe some of the strange result on English boxing shows this year are linked to organised crime as well. The old East London gangsters are not operating in the same anymore, but lots of East Europe gangsters have come in and they run the drugs and trafficking in UK now. And with the big money they are make they will be greedy for even more. Fixing sports betting is lucrative trade.

Sometimes they'll simply target someone, a referee, a judge, someone like that and will tell them how to score a fight or how to referee a fight. We've heard it from testimony by Oscar de la Hoya, from Chavez (Chavez vs Whitaker), so on and so forth.

But like you said too, in the UK. There can be multiple reasons or other reasons for it too. Wherever there's money involved, there's corruption. It just happens. Sanctioning bodies, promotors. Guilty parties everywhere. We see it everywhere, in FIFA, in the NBA, all over.

True. It's not just boxing that has corruption. Pretty much every successful sport does. But i really think boxing has it worse than most. Sometimes it's obvious. But most of the time it's subtle little things, like predetermined judges scores or changing ring sizes and ring materials to benefit one fighters style over the other. I also would not b surprised if there was some bribery happening in the drug testing side of things aswell.

it takes more than one party. To begin with, all sporting organizations basically are corrupt .You name it : FIFA, UEFA, IOC, and boxing have 4 major organizations where each of them also corrupt in their own way. Let alone, boxing organizations are like family-owned company. In 2080 maybe Jose Sulaiman V is the president of WBC. Promoters are businessmen, they look for opportunities and 'connecting the dots', so judges, referee, all have the roles on which button to press. And like any forms of corruption, money flows and those who complaint usually didn't get the share, but not challenging the system.
