Prime Joe Louis was like 205lbs, 6’2”. Past prime, late 30s, out of shape Joe Louis was 215lbs

    Usyk is 6’3” and 225lbs.

Usyk is closer in size to young prime George Foreman, who was 6’3” and around 215-225lbs in the 70s, before coming back after 10 years retired.

Usyk is not as big as the past fighters. Uysk has had to pump himself up to 215 pounds. Were as Muhammad Ali, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Ron Lyle and the list goes on? They were all boiling down to their fight weight. There was no culture of body building in boxing in past era's.

Mike Tyson at his heaviest in fight weight was 239 pounds, against Brain Neilsen. At 239 pounds, Mike Tyson had a better physique than Tyson Fury and 90% of the heavyweights active today. The reason why I am bringing this up? Is because, this also shows you that even Mike Tyson in the 90's and early 2000's was boiling down to his fight weight. If he would of appeared in today's era at 239 pounds, people would claim he is a super heavyweight.

You have fighters around in today's era, who are in reality out of condition. And they get around this by being described as Super Heavyweights. Now there are some genuine super heavyweights, but very few are solid at the weight.

You have a bunch of heavyweights these days who are ether out of condition and claiming to be super heavyweights, fighters who are pumping themselves up to heavyweight and then a small percentage of genuine super-heavyweights.

Tyson Fury in reality if he was 100% in condition, would be weighing around 250 pounds. This has been proven by his Kiltschko fight, that is Fury in peak condition. And lets also factor in even Fury is pumping himself up to a degree, his training methodologies are not entirely based on old school techniques.

I just think people overestimate today's super heavyweights, and underestimate the true size and condition of past fighters. Very few fighters are super-heavyweights by default.

Not even Anthony Joshua is a super-heavyweight by default, he pumps himself up to that level.

Lennox Lewis & Rid**** Bowe for example, were Super Heavyweights by default. They did not have to body build themselves up to that point, then maintain a lifestyle.

It was David Haye who used to say? If Derek Chisora had all of his excess weight removed, he would be very close to my weight. Just do some evaluation of your own guys, and go through the heavyweight division and apply this method to all the fighters. Today's fighters are not as big as people perceive or make out.

Around the 3 minute mark, Haye puts things in perspective. It was a different culture in past era, fighters boiled down to their fight weight. And their main goal was to get as light as possible, with the best conditioning 'There training was highly geared towards fitness, and endurance'.

If one of these super heavyweights turned up in the 90's, 80's and 70's. With all that excess weight claiming to be all superior. I think fighters of those times would find them very amusing.

What do Louis, Ali, Lewis, W. Klitschko and Fury all have in common? They were very big HWs for their respective eras.
Its obvious that person was trolling saying that bull way to outdated in movement

This is the most relevant point and I'm surprised no one else made it, Louis fought like a big man because he was in his era. Usyk fights like a small man because he has to, David Haye fought like a big man as a cruiserweight because he was a tall long cruiserweight, but you saw how ineffective he was against a taller technically proficient heavy who knew how to control distance.
Dave was good to and way more advanced then that joe era but on other sites crazy idiots trolled saying joe would not only land but beat him to these people are just crazy and act blind its odd

I think one of the main things people forget about boxers is that they all benefit by fighting in the present.

The thing is the current super heavyweights aren't as good as the 90s-00s ones.

OK fury is, but the next best one is AJ who is OBVIOUSLY inferior to a prime Lewis, Bowe, Wlasd, Vitali, and we aren't talking a little bit inferior here are we.

Behind him it's Joyce and then I guess Hrgovic but he's still only a prospect.

Usyk is a good fighter but he lasts about a round vs a prime lennox, we all know this but we are still acting like "size is no obstacle to Usyk" because he beat a Joshua who A) isn't all that great anyway and B) seems about ready to finish.

I might as well say we'll no small heavyweight could ever trouble Wlad because look what he did to Chris bryd.

no cause boxing doesn't work off of weight alone so dumb comment you might as well say a person who is outdated in movement wouldnt trouble wlad which is fact that means a means 60s so called hw

The problem isnt in just size, it's the skills, most state level amateurs have more skills than a joe louis.

These people like to ignore the thousands of examples where bigger heavyweights destroyed smaller ones, but like to spew nonsense about how a joe louis would dominate today because he beat primo, who he himself showed what an unskilled big man can do with a few inches and 60lbs advantage to smaller guys.
