I've given up on Berto completely.
berto looked promising until he started fighting better competition. then he started struggling. that was ok.

but then his trainer started teaching him to clinch! that's when he lost me as a fan.

Berto needs to drop that belt then he can cherrypick all he wants till he is ready for the top dogs.if he dont drop it the wbc should strip him

This Andre Berto stuff is bull****...

He is widely regarded as the weakest welterweight champion, yet people have the attitude, "Give him a couple of soft defences before we put him in with some real live opponents"... THIS STUFF DAMAGES BOXING! The guy won a title which is supposed to signify that he is one of the best in his division. The part I don't understand is why he is now able to cherry pick his opponents. He should be forced to defend against the best that division has to offer NOW not when he is ready after building his resume and number of title defences up on no hopers or people with less than a 30% chance of winning... The only half decent fighter on his resume is Luis Collazo and he didn't even win that convincingly! Wow this is a depressing state of affairs.

it is because today boxing is attempting to be like wrestling by selling personalities and stories rather than fighters who actually pay dues. get the right promoter have a good story. make big money and exposure. to hell with actually making your bones in the game by actually fighting worthy oponents.

Time for Berto to step up. He ought not to be bitchin bout bigger $. He ain't earned it. he had a showcase fight against Urango and stunk it up. He needs to rematch Collazo, but unifyin wit the Isaac guy is ok, if the IBF don't strip him for some ****.

Because he hasn't I am still on the fence about him. Potentially he could still have the good to be a top ww....for real I mean not on paper like now, but on the other hand at this point I am leaning towards the idea that Berto is just flashy hand speed and no substance. If he fought better competition you could gauge much better what he really is or isn't.

Forbes and Urango are tough fighters for anyone. Forbes has never really been hurt by anyone. Urango has never been down I think. These were both step up's for Berto.

I'm not big on Berto and i am not even on the Berto bandwagon and i do agree that he should be fighting elites now that he's champion.

But I don't agree that he sucks or that his style is boring. The line up of Forbes, Collazo and Urango is not exactly for someone that is being protected, imo. If that's what you guys think then i respect it.

But then if he would have fought the Mosley's, Williams', Clottey's, and Cotto's of the world instead, and lost or get ***ed up then all of you would have been like "he was fed to the lions too fast" or "his career was badly managed" or call him "just another Vargas". He's still young, 24-25 years old isn't exactly old if you ask me.

I would feel bad for a young hungry boxer that is willing to take on anyone and one of you guys were his promoter. The kid could be 15 years old showing very good boxing skills and looking like a promising superstar in the future, and you would put him in there with Joshua Clottey for his first pro fight.

The reason I say 'willing to take on anybody" it's cause Berto has said that he would fight Mosley, Williams and any of the other top WW's(when asked). it's not like it's him that is controlling who he fights. Dibella is doing a great job bringing him up with competition that is on par with his talent and you can't knock him for that.

Back to back lefties didn't help. He may be more fun to watch when hes in there with an orthadox fighter. And to thosesaying he should have KOed Forbes....Oscar didn't knock Forbes down let alone out and Oscar landed clean thoughout the fight. He wanted very badly to fight Mosley so I really don't get how much more he could step up. Having the belt doesn't help. I think Berto Mosley would be fun to watch even if its just Berto cashing out.
